In the 2014 postseason, Zeke Elliott had perhaps the greatest 3-game performance in the history of college football, when you consider his personal production, level of competition, and what was at stake for the team:

Big Ten CCG (#11 Wisconsin): 20 carries, 220 yards (11.0 avg), 2 TDs
Sugar Bowl (#1 Alabama): 20 carries, 230 yards (11.5 avg), 2 TDs
CFP Champ: (#2 Oregon): 36 carries, 246 yards (6.8 avg), 4 TDs

For the 3 games combined, Elliott had 76 carries, 696 yards (9.2 avg), 8 TDs

In 5 games this season, Zach Charbonnet has 61 carries, 260 yards (4.3 avg), 4 TDs

I do not think Charbonnet could fill the Elliott role in that scenario, or in any other scenario for that matter.

DFBIA gonna DFBIA....
In fact, Charbonnet compares unfavorably with Dobbins, Webber, Samuel, Beanie, Pittman, Hyde...

They're obsessed with the idea that cause psu got lucky with a couple blocked kicks and arm punts in 2016 that means speedinspace is gonna take off any week now. But I mostly want to highlight this:

I said this to Worldwide TJ Rob yesterday, but Charbonnet was rated significantly above Barkley as recruits. Saying Charbonnet is definitely not Barkley is a projection that goes against their respective recruiting profiles and scouting.

You might be right in 5 years, but you can't judge Charbonnet today against what Barkley is today. There's a good chance based on the scouting done on each that Charbonnet ends up just as good.

So not only can chardonnay be zeke to miltons cardale, he is also as good or better than Barkley cause recruiting rankings. Dfbia

There's also a good chance I'll be selected as the next 007.

Of course, the thing they are missing is something that they can't ever wrap their heads around because it's fundamental to who they are. The reason Chardonnay won't ever be Zeke or Barkley, for that matter, has less to do with his talent and a lot more to do with the fact that he's not going to get strong coaching (remember who their RB coach is, although, that's not specific to my point here) there. Zeke and Barkley wouldn't have been Zeke and Barkley if they went to scUM. More likely they would have been Derrick Green. Lazy. Entitled. The belief that being a Michigan Wolverine, alone, makes you a winner. Your work has finished as soon as you put on the ridiculous helmet.

I've said it before and I say it again; that which makes Michigan appealing to a player is fundamentally and critically different than what Ohio State is looking for in a player. Sure, there's some crossover... take DPJ, for example... if he wanted to compete and would strangle a guy over a game a checkers, he'd be a Buckeye. Instead, he took the route of least resistance. He'll go to the league, and he may even do very well there, but these 3 years in college... meh... it's a nice little break from having to work hard.

 Totally forgot about Derrick Green. Chardonnay has his work out for him to break their trend of highly rated RB busts.

You would think after witnessing a number of 5-star RBs and WRs matriculate through their program to do precisely jack and shit for 15 YEARS they might figure it out.

But they haven't. That's why they're the -est. Not just your ole run of the mill dumb fan base, but the dumbest. It's the one superlative they have a legit claim to.

How do they not realize that their recruits aren’t really all that good. Their recruiting strength was in numbers, not quality. How do they not know this?
Their wideouts are quite good (at least their outside guys and DPJ can certainly moonlight inside) . That doesn't matter if you never develop a QB.

Or if your only rb is a true freshman.

Your point stands overall, particularly on defense.
