I was born in 1976, so I didn't see that play live. And the only footage I've found is not a good view. But seeing as the referees say it was no good, and I've read several people on this board (and at least two in this thread) say that the kick was wide. Good enough for me.
What about 1972? Again, not a play I saw live, and I think the only footage I've seen was not down the line, but I've heard that Michigan fans insist that their guy god the ball over the goal line, got pushed back, got the ball over the goal line AGAIN, and got pushed back again. Turnover on downs, Buckeye ball. Referees say it, and it's good enough for me.
They're all-aboard the McCaffrey train now, but he's never looked very good when he has played. Plus, their OL is a mess. What good does it do to throw a very green young and behind a line that will have him running for his life, anyway? It appears he's more mobile than Patterson, but he's been just as erratic throwing.Unlike pro teams college football teams only have their current roster to look for possible "answers" in better players. It's been 3 games and TSUN may not have many "answers". Charbonet may not be healthy this season. And they don't have much else at running-back. And QB? Maybe McCaffree might be the "answer" at QB but I don't see any "whispering" going on. Then there is the defense? A lack of leadership is showing and maybe the loss of Al Washington and Matterson was a big loss for them? They will take their lumps this year and be better next year.........maybe. They are probably a 8-9 win team this year.
Ohio doesn’t bother me. It was on the old scoreboard, on the cheer leader costumes, there’s no “State” in Across the Field, Buckeye Battlecry, or Carmen Ohio. They play in Ohio Stadium. We don’t O H I O S T A T E, and it pisses off a certain school on the Hocking River as well as Michigan fans.
Too bad they play Rutgers this week, that will probably put a temporary band-aid keeping them from total meltdown, yet. Unless they completely crap down their legs and put out a 20-7 type stinker W. I wonder if they are dumb enough to get false hope from anything vs Rutgers. Rutgers is just that bad.
Of-fucking-course that game led them to an extistential crisis where he spends a majority of a recap column musing about David Foster Wallace and 'Infinite Jest.' Of-fucking-course. There is nothing...nothing...more scUM than that.
There may be no better metaphor for this year's (or any year, really) scUM football team than 'Infinite Jest'; a critical darling that is a grandiose, overwrought, overly self-important novel that is too long, a slog to get through, and requires too much work from the consumer. Perfect.
I was in the end zone that day, directly in line with the goal post and the holder's spot. I honestly believe I was the first one to scream "It's wide!!" shortly after Lantry kicked it. It was off-line and didn't swerve toward the goal post. Anybody thinking that FG was good is a total Vulvarine conspiracy theorist idiot.
Side note: since that miss kept the final score at 12-10, the Buckeyes proved that day that it's possible to only score with field goals and beat an opponent that scored a touchdown.
5-star DT Chris Hinton has ZERO tackles on the season. Ohio State walk-on DT Zaid Hamdan (about 9th on the depth chart) had three tackles vs Miami.
4-star DL Mazi Smith has not played. Translation: He can't beat out the aforementioned Paea, Jeter, Upshaw, and Welschof, who also aren't playing much (if at all).
By the way, the latest scUM savior, 5-star DB Daxton Hill, has one assisted tackle on the season.
That game is one of my fondest memories as a Buckeye fan. I had bad seats, two rows up in the corner of the field at the open end. Some guy sitting in front of us had a battery operated tv. It was the size of a toaster oven and had maybe a 4-inch screen. All the people sitting around us watched those goal line stands on that black and white tv screaming our heads off. There were several goal-line-stands that day. Pete Cusick (DT) and Randy Gradishar (OLB) and Rick Middleton (MLB) walked away with some scUM lunch money that day. Totally stoned them. Every time.
"You are nothing."
"An enthusiasm unknown to mankind. Cut scene. Blank stare."
He's only brought you back to where you've always been....you're a poser...you're a nothing...you're a regional team on the field.....Michigan and Harbaugh are the same because you're both cons.....and what the f is a "Michigan Man"?? It's a creation, a myth...
Yeah except he's apparently dealing with a concussion so Super Shea ( who doesnt look 100%) will probably start against Rutgers. They're all-aboard the McCaffrey train now, but he's never looked very good when he has played. Wow! Loved this guy's response. All five steps to acceptance in just a few days:So is "Brian" the head guy at XGoBlog? What an insufferable douchebag.
We’re seeing more and more of this as they’re coming to the realization that this is just who they are...a program with a 10-3 ceiling who doesn’t have a place at the big boy table. And they’re at that realization because Jim Harbaugh was the guy. If he can’t get them over the hump, who can?Wow! Loved this guy's response. All five steps to acceptance in just a few days:

After the game and most of weekend I was one of those "fire Jim, burn it all down, start over" guys..and personally (and I hope the majority of the old guard on here) I dont blame 90% of the people on this board who felt the same.
But yes, we all need to re-calibrate our "success meter" down 3-4 notches and that is the new normal.
Accept it, be fine with it, be happier ...
