O'Korn had approximately 99.7% of the Michigan fan votes for who would start before August. It was still about 75% in mid August despite O'Korn never outperforming him all off season, even in one off situations. If Harbaugh can manage to get a year like Ruddock had in '15 out of Speight/O'Korn/Suga Shane then I'm wrong. I'm willing to take that bet because it doesn't seem like anyone up north or any pre season prognostications have even considered the fact the QB play might not be exactly what it was last year. When you look at what Harbaugh had to work with in Ruddock (as in what Ruddock had proven on the field prior to'15) vs these ass clowns he has to work with in '16 it gets pretty hard to believe there isn't even a little bit of a concern or someone asking the question of "what if the QB's suck?"
Jake was a safe, limited qb. Harbaugh did a phenomenal job with him but he was not bad at all. Iowa just had someone better.
Speight was brutal last year and that was on top of pretty limited upside. O'Korn was everyone's pick because of his high upside and hopes that a great qb coach like harbaugh could avoid the low floor that caused him to transfer from Houston.
I could see a fairly decent defense becoming even stronger with a better coordinator. I do not see any reason to believe that the poor running game (blocking and rushing ) will suddenly be good. The passing game was quite solid to good later in the year yet the rushing attack remained woeful.
I agree about the veterans largely being who they are. Most of them don't improve. A very small number go from bad to competent (Curtis Grant). Almost none go from bad to good/great.
When there is a big moment in the Michigan backfield, a sack, a tackle for loss, a hurry up, a fumble, there is usually one player in my photos running backwards, if not two. Kyle Kalis is one of those guys visible in the photo about 95% of the time.
