ttun Shenanigans and Arguments (2015 official thread)

Yeah, this is the funniest part. The scUM fanbase, by and large, thought recruits would be beating down the door to play for The Harbrau™. That most certainly isn't happening. And when compared to what Urban was able to pull off his first couple of weeks in 2011-12, it's pretty pathetic. Maybe they are choosing to largely punt on the 2015 class, but if The Harbrauis going to be this unstoppable recruiting machine they think he's gonna be, that wouldn't be necessary.
It is pretty glorious watching their expectations get crushed so soon after they made their dream coaching hire.

Usually it takes until the season starts for that to happen. If things keep going down the recruiting path they are currently on their post signing day banter is going to be solid entertainment.

You gotta think at least a few of them will be jumping off the bandwagon early after their experience with the last two coaching hires... right? It can't all just be rationalization and excuses- although it will still be fun to read if it is only that.

The best part is that all of the bluster about The Harbrauhire was largely snuffed out by Urban and his boys winning a National Title right afterward. Just like he stomped on the party about winning The Game for the first time in 8 years with his hire, Urban peed all over this little scUM party too.

Also, +1,000,000 on this part.

*ichigan Recruiting Trip to Players house:

Player: Hey coach! I am really leaning towards going to your program!!

Coach: Well, I am glad to hear that, because if you weren't a football player, *ichgan enrollment people would be laughing their asses off at your application.

Player: Huh?!? Wha....What is that supposed to mean?

Coach: It is quite simple really. You have already been priviliged enough to even have me, a *ichgan Man, in your presence, but now we must tell you how you are an insignificant dumbass unless you commit to us because, well, you just really aren't *ichigan material unless you play football. See how easy that is? I can use flash cards if I sounded too intelligent for you peons.

Player's Parents: Um, yeah. GTFO of our house you arrogant SOB. Our kid will never go to TSUN.

Coach: What did I say wrong?

Here is the actual quote from the father. If Mattison was making an economic remark, that's downright insane.

"They made one bad statement," Hoskins said of the Monday visit with Mattison, "and it ruined them. They said without football, Daishon wouldn't be able to go to Michigan -- like we couldn't afford to send him there or we couldn't get him [academically eligible].
Actually, it sounds like Mattison's remark was ill advised AND the Father is a dumbass.

My fault--since he's only a 3*, Michigan didn't want him anyway, right? Funny how the crowing about how Neal "dropped two big-time schools from consideration" turned to "he's not a 4 star" once Michigan was sent packing...
I don't want to defend a Ohio Wolverine fan but every site I saw had him as a 3* a while ago. When this story popped on my FB is the first time I recall seeing him listed as a 4*. I may be off and will take my flaming if so.

Also, Fuck Michigan!

I get being upset by that, but if a kid doesn't have the grades or test scores to get into Michigan outside of football, that's not calling him dumb, that is stating a fact.
A recruiting visit is a sales call.

You don't make sales calls in order to tell the customers they're idiots -- even if they are.

No, you just shut your full mouth. The kid's a football player. Whether or not he can get into tsun, or any other school, without football is totally irrelevant. It's rude. True? Certainly. Polite to say to somebody you're trying to woo to your program in front of his family/friends? Absolutely not. Like it or not, I'm sure simple manners can play a big part in attracting kids to your program.

No different than not mentioning the recruit has an ugly sister/mother/girlfriend/cousin. Might be true, but if you say it you should expect a negative reaction.

Maybe Mattison is really pissed about the hokester being fired and then being demoted from dc, and this is his revenge. He's intentionally sabotaging their recruiting.
