Transcript:

After transcribing this interview, I am fully onboard with ‏@Ben_Jones88 and his alien thesis.

(After lead in about how intense he was, and Colin saying he was too and he liked it)

Colin: When are you at your least intense? (1)

Jim: Well hello, Colin, how are you?

Colin: What is the part of the day where you are just a pushover? (2)

Jim: Hah, I don't know. I don't know. Uhhhh, I guess, I don't know. I may ask, uh, Sarah my wife. I don't knowk Sarah my Wife.

Colin:When you go to Michigan, and you take over a program, and you're starting out... like when you're flying there, and you're flying there to take the gig, do you have a yellow pad, and you're like ok I'm going to do this, this, this.

Colin: Like, what is the first thing you changed at Michigan? (3)

Jim:I don't know, uh, what the very first thing that was changed, uhh, you know, maybe altered, but it's just a conversation at the time. You uh, you get to work. I remember that first... first day, the press conference, then we got to work. Hiring the staff, recruiting players, recruiting players that were already on the roster. One conversation at a time, that's how you get to know people.

Colin: I watch you on instagram and I watch you on twitter. You're very much into the community. And not that you weren't everywhere else, but it does feel different at Michigan because of your history there. It does feel differently for me, because when I watch you , you really seem to be all-in. (4, not really a question, but an insanely easy lead in)

Jim: Uh, yeah, I agree. I can't disagree with that.

Colin: What do you think... because I didn't think you'd go to Michigan, what was the day like where you decided, where were you? (5)

Jim: I don't know if there was a day or place or time... it... just... was... uh, what I felt in my heart what I wanted to do. I love Michigan, I love football, I love coaching football. Ummm... so... I feel very blessed. I guess I have an attitude gratitude  that I'm... able to be part of this game and part of this great university.

Colin: What are realistic expectations? (6)

Jim: Ummm.. realistic expectations are that we are going to be better today than we were yesterday. Be better tomorrow than we were today. That's um... our plan for success. So simple it might just work.

Colin: Yeah... college football coaches, NFL coaches, I don't know the difference hours-wise. Is your day that much different college [vs] pro? (7)

Jim: Uh, Yeah! I mean it's, uh... I don't know how much different, there's more similarities than there are differences.

Colin: Like how? Basically you get in early, you leave late, it's the same thing. (8)

Jim: Yeah! That would be a similarity... coaching football... building a team... same. More similarities than differences, I'd say.

Colin: The future of the Big Ten. You're at Michigan, Urban Meyer's at Ohio State. James Franklin. When I look at these coaches, I say elite recruiters, elite coaches. I said this yesterday, the Big Ten feels like it's a buy (vs sell) for me. Do you have a sense for that and a feel for the conference overall? (9)

Jim: Uh, the Big Ten feels like a buy to you?

Colin: Yeah, it does...

Jim: How does it feel that way?

Colin: You don't see that?

Jim: No I, uh, explain that to me, I don't understand, where you're... a "buy", what do you mean by a "buy"?

Colin: Well, let's be honest, Michigan's a heavyweight. Ohio State's a heavyweight. They both now have great coaches. It feels like the Big Ten is "on the come". It feels like there's momentum in the conference, that I didn't feel...

Jim: Oh a buy, like something to buy!

Colin: Yeah, like a stock!

Jim: Oh I thought you meant a bye week.

Colin: That's what it feels like to me (B1G is a buy, has momentum), does it feel like that to you? (9)

Jim: *silence* ... It feels very competitive to me. *pause* at the highest level of college football.

Colin: Season opens Sep 3rd at Utah. Coach when do you put in the gameplan, how does it work? (10)

Jim: Uh... it's a process. It's been... it's been going on for... months, and will continue over the next two months.

Colin: You're not a rear mirror guy, it doesn't seem like. You kind of forge your way, go, get stuff...

Jim: This feels like one of those where ya ask like 50 questions and uh...

Colin: Well you're giving me slow... you're not giving me a ton to work with so I want to just find something out about Jim Harbaugh the human being.

Jim: Right. Ok.

Colin: (hypothetical) I'm a player right now, I want to play for a bunch of schools. I'm listening to Jim Harbaugh. I want to play for Jim? Well, I mean...

Jim: Do you have any eligibility Colin?

Colin: No, and I can't play worth a damn. But what I'm saying is I want Jim Harbaugh, the guy!

Jim: *nervous laugh*

Colin: Because I bring on all of these college coaches and I want the guy.

Jim: *silence*

Colin: I mean, I'm a 4.3 (40 yd dash) wide receiver. Why should I play at Michigan? (11)

Jim: You are?!

Colin: No!!! but if I was...

Jim: *Nervous chuckle* ... *silence*

Colin: This seems terribly difficult, this is just not working, I love you to death, but it seems like we're going nowhere with this. I mean I love you, I'm a huge Harbaugh fan.

Jim: I mean, what can I do to make your interview better?

Colin: I'm just asking open ended questions and you have not much to say. I want you to sell your program. That's why I bring Urban on, and Steve Sark(isian) on. I love you guys, I want you to sell your program. (12)

Jim: *silence*

Colin: Listen, I love ya, it's not working, I appreciate you stopping by, it's not working.

*call ended by Colin*

Colin: I've been in the business 10 years folks, that was a clunker. Not much I can do about that

Dear Lord - the spin they are trying to put on this is unbelievable. Harbaugh did this on purpose to make Cowherd look bad! And they think he pulled that off.

They think you can make a man with a radio show - a man who controls the mic and the message - look bad by giving a stupid interview.

Well, when it comes to stupid fan bases, scUM takes the cake as you know. I mean, these are idiots who thought flipping legacy recruit and son of a current position coach Tyrone Wheatley Jr. on NLOI day was some kind of miracle job.

You have the proof you need that Michigan will be back.

Most great teams have a jerk for a head coach.

Michigan found its jerk.

Championships are coming.
Well, he got the "jerk" part right...

This is kind of old news now, not sure if it was already discussed in here..

I found Harbaugh's approach to the QB camp extremely weird.. He had the players playing baseball and other games to "see who the athletes were". Maybe next year they bring in a ball pit and a bouncey house for the kids to play in, they could get Barney to come provide some entertainment as well. I know I would have been like wtf if I signed up for this "elite" QB camp and it wasn't entirely focused on making me a better QB.
