Harbrau getting beat by Mel Tucker on the recruiting trail? That's good stuff. Good thing they brought on all those young ace recruiters...it's made a HUGE difference,

DFBIA is spinning the wheels hard to make it out that it "wasnt really a head to head battle with MSU" even though it clearly definitely is.

Like clockwork, the DFBIA is sure the staff cooled on, or didn't make a priority, the 5th best player in their own state and a composite 4-star that goes to high school 30 miles from Ann Arbor.

I don't think we stopped recruiting him, in fact we just had him up for a visit a couple weeks ago. But I also don't think he was as high on our board as some others
I’ve mentioned it before, but I love it when they claim to have higher priorities on their board without actually listing any of them.

Yeah. And his HS coach is now on staff (Bellamy). This (them losing out on kids that seemed like slam-dunks) is going to be a theme as long as Simple Jim is on what is essentially a series of one year contracts. You can bet opposing coaches are quick to point that out...as they should.

We have depth at the position so losing out on a recruit is no big deal.

Epic.
Yes, depth. Lets check in on what the Ministry of Excuses just said about the position group...

What it means: Status quo: three main corners and then paper thin depth below that. Just hope Turner is an upgrade on Gray and that he and Green stay healthy the whole season. If that happens, Michigan could be okay. If Turner is no better than Gray, or injuries strike, it could get ugly fast.
Yeah, "cooling" on a 4* in-state kid at one of your biggest positions of need seems plausible.

I love the "could get ugly" tid bit

The same secondary that got lit up by Rocky Lombardi and Noah Vedral "could get ugly" hard to get much uglier.

What it means: You've got three semi-competent CBs, and Ohio State is running 4-wides with Olave, Wilson, JSN, and Fleming/Harrison/Egbuka, and 275-pound OLB Aidan Hutchinson is trying to cover Jeremy Ruckert. That will get ugly really fast.

Ugly to skunk weasels, but oh so beautiful to little ol’ me.

4 crystal ball flips for Dillon Tatum to Sparty. M fans thought this was in the bag.
Outside of a year-old CB for top-100 TE prospect Oscar Delp (a Blue Sam Special), here are the only uncommitted recruits for the Class of 2022 who have a CB to Michigan:

DL Deone Walker (.8950 rating; #326 overall prospect)
ATH Deuce Spurlock (.8416 rating; #1215 overall prospect)

Two guys. That's the list.
tsun current class avg for '22: 88.7
Michigan is literally a Will Johnson decommitment away from having a G5 recruiting class:

Recruit average with Johnson: 88.70 (meh)
Recruit average w/o Johnson: 87.95 (lol)

Michigan crystal balls for uncommitted recruits:

Recruit NamePos247 Rate247 RankCB %
Oscar DelpTE95.86#9433%
Dillon TatumATH90.47#267100%
Deone WalkerDL89.50#326100%
Ja'Kobi AlbertATH89.00#35833%
Dillon BellWR87.29#567100%
Jeremy PattonWR87.10#5897.7%
Deuce SpurlockATH84.16#119650%
A few notes on the above....

Oscar Delp is a Sam Webb Special. Blue Sam cast his Michigan CB way back on September 23, 2020, and has not updated it since then. In the meantime, SEVEN other experts (including Wiltfong) have cast CBs for Georgia.

Jeremy Patton has only one Michigan CB (from, you guessed it, Sam Webb), but it is the most recent CB cast (July 14th), so maybe Blue Sam will get this one right.

The most recent CBs for Albert and Spurlock are against Michigan (Auburn and Mississippi State, respectively).

If Michigan should land all three 100% CB targets (Tatum, Walker, Bell) and their most recent CB (Patton), then their class would have 20 commitments with a total score of 229.02 points (up from 212.21 points) and an average per recruit of 88.52 (up slightly from 88.50).

By way of comparison, Ohio State currently has 17 commitments with a total score of 286.97 and an average per recruit of 94.37 ... and the Buckeyes are still legit contenders for at least a half dozen top prospects (Zion Branch, Xavier Nwankpa, Earnest Greene, Kam Dewberry, Chris McClellan, Kenyatta Jackson, Caden Curry, Hero Kanu).

Talent gap, anyone?
Would love an update here
