Great stuff, as usual, but let's not forget that recruits are teenagers, and that teenagers are prone to making bad decisions, even concerning important decisions like where to hone your skills for your future multi-million dollar career in the NFL. Donovan PeopLLLes-Jones comes to mind, as does KyLLLLLe KaLLLLLis, Shawn CrabLLLLe, and the entire Boren family before they had their collective road to Damascus moment.DFBIA is really tuned in to what recruits really care about when selecting a school, and what sets Michigan apart.
Some recruits make emotional/irrational decisions to attend a particular school despite all the logical arguments against it, and college football is littered with players who sabotaged their own careers by choosing the wrong school (for example, Marvin Wilson going from 5-star prospect to undrafted free agent after four years at Florida State). Now, I'm not saying that Walter Nolen is going to go to Michigan because of #0, or winged helmets, or BBQ, or his BFF is a commit ... but I wouldn't entirely rule it out.
If Nolen does make that ruinous life choice, then fine by me - he'll simply become the next five-star prospect to massively underachieve in Ann Arbor. And we'll have the added bonus of calling him WaLLLLter NoLLLLen for the rest of our lives.
And thus NIL ends one of the slimiest relationships in college football.
