I do not choose to discuss it
Bringing this over from Fitzpatrick’s thread, DFBIA is spinning a story like Michigan has superior scouting and jumps on these “Chris Olave” recruits early before they blow up and others jump in and steal them away.Oh man the spin job on Fitzpatrick who was literally the top OT on their board
As I pointed out in his thread, Ohio State offered Fitzpatrick first and he made his official visit to Columbus first.
Well, I also went back and looked at Chris Olave assuming that they are implying the same thing happened with him.
Ohio State offered Olave on October 7th with Michigan following up on October 30th. And the timing of the official visits doesn’t matter because he never made a trip to Ann Arbor.
It’s shocking I know, but it would appear a narrative built up by DFBIA around their scouting prowess is completely fabricated, and in fact, the exact opposite of reality. Based on these two examples, it seems more likely to me that Michigan runs around offering the lower ranked players Ohio State offers in the hopes that they can swoop in on a guy that Ohio State scouted but might not make a priority.
And just to drive the point home, meanwhile, a guy that looks like original research for UM in the same state as Fitzpatrick in the ‘22 class is OL Connor Jones https://247sports.com/player/connor-jones-46096682/.
The #984 composite, #102 OT who it looks like they actually were in early on, who they competed with the likes of Indiana, Northwestern, Colorado State, New Mexico, Oregon State, and Virginia to land.
It looks like the kid has good grades, but shockingly the big dogs have not swooped in on UM’s bit of original scouting work here.
