Football is 100% physical, 100% mental.
Welp, time to revisit the ol’ recruiting strategy because going head-to-head with TCU is clearly aiming too high for them.

It’s hard work identifying guys ranked outside the top 1000 and making absolutely no effort to land them because there is no competition. I, too, appreciate that about their staff.Blake Forum

Clearly this kid has athleticism. Offer list not impressive. I dunno how good he'll be, but I appreciate how hard this staff is working to eval seemingly every kid in the country and find guys with clear upside

Keep an eye on 5* Keon Sabb. Safety out of Florida by way of New Jersey. Clinkscale is after him hard and word is he might be considering Michigan now. He has one crystal ball to Clemson but it low confidence. He visited a few weeks back.

I think we are in contention despite being left off his Top 6 but I think Sabb has said we need a good season to make it happen.
They keep talking about how they are evaluating every kid in the country to find hidden gems.
That is NOT how the big boys do it. The big boys go after the polished gems that everyone knows about and brings them home to compete for championships.
UM is following the IU blueprint and doing so with MAC level coaches.
I present to you their discussion about Walter Nolen. They are incomprehensibly delusional

He wants to wear 0. Michigan was the first to tell him they would give him the number 0.

To the word, it was also my first thought. Then I scrolled down and saw the first post and chuckled.
Do they actually believe this? The solid color pants, solid color jersey is really something you could pick out of a lineup. I’m assuming they base this thought 100% on the helmet... which I believe they stole from Princeton, if I’m not mistaken. It’s a small thing in the grand scheme of things, but this opinion is also pretty stupid.MgoHillbilly

My only real take away from this is that we have the best uniforms in college football and it isn't even close.
The schools demonstrating results with numbers that they can highlight and share with recruits is nice and all, but the key to NIL is definitely tweeting at players. Tennessee will be unstoppable.azee2890

Honestly, i've never felt the urge to tweet or post on a recruit's social media but with the NIL now, smart recruits will be monitoring what fan bases are hitting them up the most to gauge what their marketability will be when they are in college. So if Michigan fans blow him up it might pay dividends.
Yes, Walter Nolen seems like the type who doesn’t want to get drafted or compete for championships at the schools who have proven they are the best at both, thank goodness... otherwise Michigan would have no shot.Hotel Putingrad

I caught a glimpse of that OL from CO who just committed to OSU, and I had a fleeting thought of how there must be some highly ranked recruits out there who are just as tired of the same stupid programs we are.
I think Walter Nolen is one of those recruits.
UM has Mike MacDonald and Shaun Nua but his high school coach is buddies with Ron Bellamy whom Nolan talks too regularly. He has family in Detroit and has said the camaraderie with teammates is important. He has a relationship with Kody Jones who's also from the Memphis area, Myles Pollard from Tennessee and Will Johnson are on him as well.
Could be a Najee Harris situation or could be a Dax Hill scenario.
I hope it's the latter.

We have a great chance here. It'll come down to how bad he wants to play with our other recruits.

We are "warm" on the list. And apparently Steve Clinkscale has made him a high priority. Things, supposedly, went real good on his June 22 visit, and communication between he and Coach Clink is stepped up. He never was solid with Clemson. But I can't confirm that for you.

DFBIA is really tuned in to what recruits really care about when selecting a school, and what sets Michigan apart.
It’s not a comprehensive plan for their future with a proven track record of support and success on and off the field, or the relationships they establish with the coaches... it’s who offered to let them wear the #0 first. The other teams can’t compete with that by also indicating he can wear #0, he’ll always remember who was first.

I’m thinking Alabama isn’t going to land Jordan Battle and tell Nolen there isn’t any room for him, so the hopes that this will be another Dax Hill situation seem misplaced.
And this is it, possibly the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen out of DFBIA.
Yes, the key to the Nolen recruitment will be how much he wants to play with their class of mostly completely unknown, under-the-radar, barely ranked recruits. DFBIA is feeling good because they have a few guys from Tennessee, and as we all know, being marginally connected to a player by proximity is the tightest bond you can form.
And finally, more optimism for the player the missed the top six cut for, because why not?
Wait, you mean competent programs don't hire 100 analysts and their large sons to look at HUDL highlights of 1k+ players from Maine, Connecticut, Vermont, Guam, the Midway Atoll, Wyoming, and Rhode Island? Gonna need some proof.

Micah (not Myles) is one of the top prospects on our board for OLB. His highlights are exciting.
Poggi told the Baltimore Sun that he’s cutting all ties with St. Frances to meet NCAA requirements for the new job at Michigan, and he’s agreed not to recruit any St. Frances players for two years.

This is their recruiting savior. I don't see this hire to be made other than for recruiting. Someone in that program has to have seen the talent gap that is widening with OSU, Ped St, and its possible even IU could catch up and pass them.
So it seems like he's also going to be babysitting the new coaches as well.
