The folks on MgoBlig are now routinely trashing their own 3 star recruits on their "welcome" threadsquite a tumble for a historical blue blood when a fan says this about a committed player:
This is a great thread, and I have only one caveat, that isn't directed to anyone in particular. I think the "no disparaging recruits" dictum should apply to all recruits, regardless of where they've committed. Put the individual disparagement where it belongs, in the college football forum, after they've enrolled, or at least signed.
Yeah, it's a tough call. I'm inclined to retract my comment.Even as a whole, if we say "Michigan's recruiting stinks," does that not extend to their recruits? I don't disagree with what you're saying. But I don't think post a kid's name & ranking is disparaging.

I agree with the sentiment, but if you check their board they are saying worse things about their own recruits than we are. That's what I was wondering about when this thread was created. It's almost impossible to do our usual observance of the schools recruiting and not point out that a lot of the kids are lower ranked.
It's just a statement of fact that is going to come across as hating on the kid, which none of us really intend to do (unless he's a mouthy traitor type).
Not sure how we pull this off to be honest

I began this thread because a lot of Michigan recruiting talk was beginning to pop up in the Shenanigans thread in the CFB Forum. And of course, there are no restrictions in that forum, so Michigan recruits were occasionally getting bashed. That's what I was wondering about when this thread was created. However, it is not bashing merely to mention that a recruit is ranked #494 (or whatever). Let's face it - Ohio State has some lower ranked recruits as well. Even in our epic Class of 2021, we have the #349, #393, and #404 ranked recruits ... each of whom, by the way, would be in the upper half of Michigan's class. Just stating the facts....
Often times, it's not what you say, but how you say it. Stick to the facts, keep it classy, and we're all good.
