This is one of the few losses on the recruiting trail for Steve Clinkscale and the Wolverines over the Buckeyes in this cycle, as they previously acquired commitments from four-star running back Jordan Marshall and four-star edge Elias Rudolph.
A kid Ohio State got in late on and a kid they didn’t even offer.

The Wolverines still have zero cornerbacks committed in the 2024 class. They swung and missed on Scott, four-star Bryce West (OSU), four-star Jameer Grimsley (Alabama), four-star Terhyon Nichols (Kentucky), four-star Ondre Evans (LSU) and four-star Boo Carter (Tennessee), just to name a handful.

#473 composite and listed as a S

Among the already-committed prospect I would continue to recruit is the aforementioned Ondre Evans, who is one of four cornerbacks in LSU’s class, and it looks like they have a decent shot at landing another one in five-star Kobe Black. If Black ends up committing to LSU, perhaps Evans has second thoughts gives Michigan a closer look.

I’m continually amazed that they’re too dumb to get ahead of the NIL complaints in their expectations. You clowns aren’t flipping any top-rated recruits from the SEC unless they get booted from the class for someone they like more.

Finally, I anticipate Michigan to do some senior film evaluation and send out offers to cornerbacks this fall.
That’s it. That’s all they’ve got.

Clink is among the very best defensive back coaches in the country and will get the best out of anyone he coaches, so as long as they get a couple guys they like to commit before the end of the cycle, I will trust Clink to coach these guys up and turn them into quality college players.

How long until DFBIA puts together that’s how you continue to get your asses kicked in the playoffs?

Recruiting has not been good lately. Started off good and have pretty much lost out on every good recruit the last couple months.. shouldn’t be having this hard of a time pulling in top recruits after the last couple seasons

We have 25 guys in the class already. We are going to lose battles based on that fact alone.

Foiled again by filling up the class with mediocre talent so there’s no spots for elite talent. If only there were some way to prevent that.

The 25 guys we got were also coveted by other programs. This is what happens. The important thing in the macro for me is that we made OSU work, down to the wire, for a guy that should have been a layup for them. That alone is a shift in the rivalry.
First, “coveted” is doing a LOT of work in that first sentence. And yes, it was Michigan making rivalry moves in this recruitment by making Ohio State work extra hard to land one of its three elite CBs in its class. Not an Ohio kid trolling Michigan (with West thrown in for good measure) into having literally nothing on their CB board and scrambling to get a single player at the position in the class.

I get that Ohio State is on a slide it needs to correct in a major way in the rivalry, but I will again ask how long it’s going to take DFBIA to put together that this level of recruiting equals playoff embarrassments in perpetuity regardless of how well they are developing their players.

their current coping mechanism for Scott is that they'll beat us by 80, Knowles will get fired, and he'll change his mind for them. Because that happens all the time.

A new leader has emerged for UM’s CB recruiting.

Composite #1085 overall and #97 CB according to 247. Also listed at 5’11 170 so you gotta imagine that’s closer to 5’8” and who knows how heavy.

Boston College, Miami of Ohio, EKU...they are going up against some heavy hitters in this recruitment.

Won't be long before DFBIA is coming up with mental gymnastics about how this kid is "actually better than Scott"
