ttun News (2016 version)

In completely unrelated news.......Thomas Booker is a 4* 2018 ATH from Gilman High School. Considering Michigan, BC, Duke, Maryland, Pitt, and Toledo.
Like every other support staff hire he has made lately. And this one, like many of the others, is at a school which routinely produces high 3 & 4 stars.

Harbaugh has been hiring piles of mentors to sway recruits yet overall his results are fairly similar to early tenure Rich Rod and arguably behind early Hoke. Of all of the hires, I thought Finotti would be the closest to a normal hire (and not a guy hired just to deliver select recruits) yet he has not worked out very well. Gary's coach obviously helped out with that huge recruit but they've also taken a lot of Rich Rod level kids out of that region.

I'm a little surprised that he has not recruited at a higher level. I know he has won with guys like this before and he's a very good coach, I just thought he'd capitalize better on the honeymoon period, the michigan brand and the outlandish hype he has working for him.

Or to realize rivers don't go in circles because that's now how rivers work?

Or that. I've gone tubing. We park a car at the point that we will end up at and then go further up the river to start. Seems simple enough. Tube to where the car is, get out and then take the other person back to the start to get their car. Success!

I have to wonder how much his very obvious personality defects affect his recruiting. He's an extremely odd fellow, and though I'm sure he can act almost normal when sitting across from a kid and his parents/handlers for a short time, I'm sure some of his natural weirdness still shines through. Maybe it's a turn-off to a lot of kids who have other, often more impressive choices.

That and those cold, dead eyes. You can't mask those with a goofy grin.

But, like you, I'm a little surprised he hasn't recruited better overall. He's a name coach, at a program with a rich history. He's been successful everywhere he's been. I really thought he'd recruit at a higher-level than the occasional 5* peppering a class largely overflowing with 3* kids.

their class could end up top 5 once he adds a handful of the Detroit kids and jettisons the 3* players who think their accepted offers will stick. Agree not on Urb's level, as a recruiter. And his act will wear thin, and be an embarrasement over time
