ttun basketball (Juwan out, Dusty May in)

Last night was a prime example of why scUM should be nowhere near a 3 seed. 3 seeds don't get blasted at home by a very weak Purdue team on senior night. Nice to see Beilein is spending his free time devising an offensive game plan.

They got more mileage out of one win over a team playing horrendous basketball than anybody all year. What did they jump? Seven, eight spots after beating tOSU last weekend? Like I said after that game, them barely eeking by at home with the type of game tOSU played showed their mediocrity. Most other teams would have run over us by 15-20 points...

TSUN beat Ohio State. Give them that. don't winge about whether Ohio State played their best game on the day. If Ohio State can't get up for TSUN, well, no need to make any further points about that.

The margin at home is an embarrassment but is a loss against Purdue really something for TSUN to be embarrassed about? Ohio State beat Purdue by three points at home and Purdue had the lead several times in the second half. The game was tied with less than 5 minutes left and Purdue's game plan opened the door to the problems that have followed for the Buckeyes.

All but two of Purdue's losses come against top 20 teams and just about every game was close. They are a good team. TSUN is back, baby. Live with it!

My response. Wonderful. It just makes the rivalry a top-of-mind game again. Now, let's just see how far your team gets in the Big Ten tournament and NCAA Tourney.

Oh, and be sure to be ready for November this year. The Ohio State University looks forward to welcoming your favorite team and its fans.

What kills me is that Beilein gets nothing but love from the media regarding the job he's doing. They only bring up how competitive he has them now after years of being horrible. No one ever mentions the fact he is responsible for several of those years of horror. He's the anti Rich Rod in terms of scUM nation liking him.

If he starts running his offense through the big man they bring in next year I'll shut up about it but until then he's a one trick pony scheme coach. What makes him doubly incompetent in my book is he doesn't even recruit the right kind of guys to run his pet offense (hint, if you are going to chuck 3's on volume you might want to get some guys who can make them).

Looking at his roster it seems like he thinks just having the worlds supply of goofy looking white guys means he'll have a team that shoots 3's and rebounds well. Note to JB, not all white guys are good shooters, not all black guys are great athletes and not all Asians are good at math. I swear its like he and Dusty "black guys are built for the heat" Baker went to the same school of how to manage a roster by racial stereotype.

It'll be interesting to see how he adapts his offense with that big kid coming in next year. His best run at wvu coincided with having a very good big man (Pittsnogle). But, Pittsnogle wasn't a traditional "big man"...he could shoot, and his range extended behind the arc. McGary is more of a post player. They'll have the pieces to be very good for the next couple of years, but if he insists on continuing to run that chucking offense that gets them 4-6 free throw attempts a game, it'll all be wasted. 2013-14 will tell if he's really a legit coach, or just another one trick pony like dickrod was.

If you're looking for a comparison, McGary = Josh McRoberts.
