I thought ESPN's "The Fab Five" was ridiculously biased because of the involvement of Jalen Rose as executive producer. It was entertaining, yes, but it wasn't journalism.
I'll give them the black socks, but shaved heads and baggy shorts were all Michael Jordan's doing. This film tried to give them way too much credit.
Georgetown had done the "black intimidation" thing a decade earlier and at least they won a championship.
The "Fab Five" were unique, but hardly the cultural phenomenon that this film made them out to be. I'd say with their hype combined with their never winning "the big one" they were on a par with the Houston Cougars' "Phi Slamma Jamma" of the early '80s.

Decent comparison, but Houston won Conference Championships in '83 and '84, and Conference Tournaments in '81, '83 and '84. TSUN didn't win any conference championships when Rose or any of his fellow recruits were there.

Darius Morris commits to NBA draft
Updated: May 4, 2011, 2:23 PM ET

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan guard Darius Morris is staying in the NBA draft.
The sophomore point guard had declared for the draft but could have returned to the Wolverines if he'd withdrawn by May 8. Instead, he'll forgo his remaining eligibility, meaning Michigan will have to replace one of its most important players as it tries to build on last season's impressive finish.

"There have been long discussions with my family, friends and my Michigan coaches," Morris said. "In the end I decided to go with my heart. Playing professional basketball has always been a dream for me. I feel this is the right time for me to pursue that goal. It will be hard to leave the University of Michigan. However, I truly believe the basketball program is moving in a very positive direction."

...

We, as a staff, have watched Darius grow as a person and as a player these past two years," Beilein said. "His improvement on the court has been the result of his God-given talent and his intense desire to become the best player he can be. His work habits, especially in our individual skill development time, have been outstanding, and we all witnessed the results of his efforts this season."

I'll be surprised if he gets drafted at all. The strength of his game is getting to the hoop, and at 6-4, he won't be able to finish in the NBA like he did in college. At his size, he's got to be a good shooter, which he is not.

which makes me wonder why he would want to sign with an agent. as long as you don't sign, you can always go back to school, right? I don't know why a lot of guys don't do that.

The 8th is the last day you can make that decision. So agent or no agent, he had to decide now.

Post from UM fan "Nick" on Morris' decision:

"Way to many holes in his game. Average shooting, and average at best left hand dribble. He?s not going to make a roster.

Thanks for the two years Darius.

Coach B: How come OSU can get most of their guys to not go to the NBA early?"

^^ I think Nick really was born yesterday.

I actually think the bolded above is spot on (in fact, to call Morris an average shooter is, IMO, pretty generous). And I don't think it's a given at all that he makes an NBA roster.

I agree, with one more year and he improves on those items, he's a first rounder.

Morris and Coach B had their issues this season, we have a stud coming in a point guard I really like.

I wish Morris the best, but IMO he's not ready.

Morris drafted by the Lakers.......ahead of Diebler which was really surprising. Portland got a steal with Diebler IMO......but anyway, congrats to Morris.

Morris left too early. He'll be lucky to make the roster in LA. Not sure Diebler has much of a future in the league either with defensive weaknesses and inability to create his own shot.
