ttun basketball (Juwan out, Dusty May in)

Disagree.

On what points? Baseball will always be irrelevant for northern colleges unless they shift the season into Spring and Summer. I know tsun came close a couple years ago, but that was a fluke. Has a B1G school advanced far in the CWS in the last thirty years other than tsun's fluke season. Even during our glory years awhile back, we never made it out of a regional.

In my mind they are. Hockey over baseball because Ohio State (or any cold weather college) is never going to be competitive for a national championship these days. Plus, men's hockey attendance at Ohio State is bigger than baseball's, and it gets much more television coverage.

College baseball as a sport gets an infinite amount more television coverage than hockey does.

Your point about northern schools being forever fucked in that sport is spot on.

I was speaking specifically about Ohio State coverage. BTN has a lot more hockey coverage than baseball coverage, and several games end up on ESPN every year also.

I know that espn has gone all in on college baseball/softball, but 90% of that coverage is focused on the SEC with a little bit towards some ACC and Cali schools.

Agree. Wasn't sure what you were going by.

I'd say there are only ever two main sports (Football and basketball) and then the third sport is always very school/region specific or what a certain school happens to be good at for a while. None of the third sports are anywhere near the zip code of the first two.

I believe the last Northern school to win the college World Series was OSU back in 1966…..

Wichita State in '89

It may not be northern but it damn sure isn't always warm in Kansas.

Oregon St won it a couple years ago. ttun lost in champ series recently too. Notre dame and Oregon are always ranked as well. No reason OSU can't be at least that competitive in baseball but I digress
