Why wouldn't Michigan look to the pro ranks?

So it is now down to Bobby Petrino and Gary Patterson then?

Rumors of michigan planes in dallas today:paranoid:

They're doing a great job at racking up the frequent flyer miles. I'd love to see that hideous looking jet make another ten stops in their search for a head coach and watch their fan base sink even lower. Fun times....

Looks like it is down to Miles and Hoke. I really don't see Michigan landing anybody else. Then again Bill Martin pulled an ice cold stuna in 2007 so who knows what will happen. I just think it's down to these 2 guys. If Miles doesn't want to leave the bayou, then it will be Hoke.

Really think they should reach out to Gary Pinkel. Don't know why he hasn't been mentioned at all, in a lot of cases, not just Michigan. Think he'd be a great fit at UM , especially being from Ohio.

Miles is currently reeling in 3.9 Mill direct and 400K maximum bonus, how far north of that figure will TSUN have to go to outbid LSU?
Despite past rumblings about LSU AD and Bayou fans having somewhat cooled on Miles I'd suspect LSU would wish to retain their mad hatter, the alternative being significant disruption at precisely the wrong time of year in the recruiting cycle.

Beav is saying the optimism on Lester is not very high right now...and the beaver-ites are already melting down. Can't wait to see the explosion when Hoke is hired.

BTW, I'm not sure which hire would bring me more joy, Lester or Ogre.

For me: Upon hiring, Hoke. In season, Miles.

Isn't that just fucking sad on their part?

Yes and no. I mean, realistically, Ohio being the closest recruiting hotbed, it'd certainly be helpful to have someone with local roots.

But, yes, if I were a Michigan fan it'd [censored] me off my best shot at success was hiring someone from Ohio.

And let me just say, the Michigan Man criteria is a bunch of BS, IMO. They don't need to be a Michigan man per se, but they need to understand the importance of the rivalry. Someone from Ohio understands the live and die mentality of the game, even if they haven't taken part in it first-hand. I'm assuming Pinkel grew up a Buckeye fan just based on his relationship with Tressel, but it seems the step-up to Michigan would be a great opportunity from Missouri, and you'd think he'd be a "lifer" if he got the job.

Just of all the current candidates, I'd think Pinkel wipes the floor with all of them.
