schiano went to bed a wolverine, woke up a scarlet knight and said no thanks.

Kelly's character issues were a red flag. They may not have that luxury next time.

Yes, at the time Kelly was the coach I wanted, but I guess we thought we were too high and mighty for that. If he ever goes to Notre Dame....:shake:

I'd question why Kelly would even consider leaving Cincy for Michigan right now, considering the state of both programs.

Facilities + Money as a poster above me pointed out.

I was down in Cincinnati for their Lousville game (my cousin plays for Louisville) and on the way to the stadium I thought I was at a very advanced little league building, not a BCS conference football field. Outside of the large crowd tailgating out front I had no idea I was near a stadium. I remember during the game they announced it was the largest attendance in Nippert Stadium history and it was just close to 1/3rd of Ohio and Michigan Stadium. I liked the stadium itself, it was nice.. but facility wise I don't think its much of a comparison. Thank you Bill Martin for that atleast.

It's all moot though, until something happens here first.

On the UM boards, someone brought up that the dramatic comebacks vs IU & ND might have saved them from another 3-9 year. I'm not sure Purdue can regroup after that demoralizing loss today, but that QB could have a field day vs that secondary.

I typically stay away from those boards after games because they take games too extremely; be they wins or losses, but I will admit this is one of the first games I don't have a problem with all the negativity on the boards. I've been the biggest supporter of giving Rich Rod 3-4 years just simply because he needs that time to put his program place, but with games like this it's hard to see how big boosters and people in the AD will have the patience that I have.

I try to take positives from this game, and there ARE a few, but for like the umpteenth time in the Rich Rod era we looked uninterested and played without passion. I feel absolutely terrible for Brandon Graham because he's played with heart every play of every game but his teammates around him just can't match his intensity and playmaking ability (granted, he did have a bad read that enabled Juice to break off his 30+ yard run on the first drive, but nobody's perfect.)

I can't figure out what to say. I just can't.
We've been through this at Ohio State as well ... when John Cooper took over the program in 1988, he led the Buckeyes to their first losing record in over two decades. In his first five years, his record was 35-24-3 (.619), with an 0-4 record in bowl games, an 0-4-1 record against Michigan, and no conference titles.

Cooper finally won a conference championship and a bowl game in year six (1993), got his first win in The Game in year seven (1994), and got the team into national title contention in year eight (1995), and finally won a major bowl game in year nine (1996). Nine years to get The Ohio State University back to the glory years of the 1970's ... and then Coop couldn't sustain his success, much less build upon it, and the program went south in 1999....

Coop would never have had nine years to rebuild in the internet age ... how long will RichRod get? Three? Four? Realistically, he'll need more like nine, but no way he gets anything close to that....

Well, at this point.. all you pretty much can do is laugh.

Yeah, I was hoping Michigan could make a bowl this year. They shouldn't bother showing up for Wisconsin or Ohio State. You could chalk it that Michigan is actually 5-6. Hopefully we can beat Purdue.

I don't know if I should scream or laugh that Michigan is 1-8 in October under RR. I guess the funny part could be that their win is against Delaware St.

Seems some posters over there figure they should just go out and get Brian Kelly for next year. Didn't Kelly turn them down once? (Serious question, I forget if he did or if he simply didn't get a look (I might be thinking of Shiano))

He didn't get a look. He was my second choice after Miles.

Buckeye fans,

Do not take this bait from our gracious visitors. In their despair, they feel helpless, hopeless, and ready to surrender (which we all love and would celebrate wildly in the secret underground bunker if such a bunker did exist...which it does not.) but do not lower your guard. Do not assume victory. Do not let your disdain for all things Maize and Blue subside. Stay sharp, stay focused, and continue brewing your fury for that weekend in November. Complacency is unacceptable.

Coach Tressel will have the team ready, but I still worry about the offense and particularly the offensive line. The team needs to come out firing on all cylinders the next three weeks.

The next three weeks is where the staff earns their money. Strap it up and go to work.

Didn't think about that until you brought that up. The scary part is that both teams outplayed Michigan.
