Troy Smith Saga has begun.....

"Fucking Idiot" ???

Seriously, how does DiHard get away with that language on here? Is he related to the site owner? it's laughable at best.

Hey jackoff-

Newsflash for you.

This isn't Bucknuts... no one is 'sponsoring' this place... (meaning: profitting from its existence) thus, there is no worry of offending anyone... thus no one gives two fucking shits if you never come here again... or if anyone else is offended... and believe me, you're the one who is offensive... with your racist implications. (Btw, the fucking Arabs thing.. while not PC is a running joke around here, so lets not be all PC and high and mighty.) Take your 13 year old ass back to the O-Zone or wherever it came from and worry about the man keepin you down elsewhere.

AKA, Tress proclaimed that the race was too close to call and that both kids will have a chance to prove what they could do under game circumstances. 8 plays is not representitive of that POV. So one of 2 things is true.
-either he was trying to make it closer that it actually was to motivate (and it backfired)
-or he was being truthful and went back on his word.
Either case is a reason for TS to be miffed.
I want to be clear that I am not a believer that TS should be the starter. Zwick is the man. BUT I understand where Troy is coming from, I just do not agree how he handled it.

I see your point, and don't doubt that Troy might be confused... but I still only remember that he said Zwick would start and Troy would play... (Though I do sort of remember the word 'significantly' before the Cincy game.. so I don't know if it been 'significant' but he played)

ITs called competition . Nobody lied to Troy Smith, thats just silly !! He has the skills that OSU needed but there are NEVER promises of playing. Only the Oppotunity to play. Tressel and all the coaches as well as the coaches know what is to be expected and if you do not perform the way the coach wants or adjusts to his needs , YOU DO NOT START !!!!

Troy Smith has had 2+ years to prove himself in a consequence free environment (practice) and he has not been able to overtake Zwick. That is supposed to be when you win the job - in practice! Tressel cannot afford to be holding tryouts when the games count - he needs to put the guy out there who he feels gives the team the best shot at winning. Ohio State is trying to accomplish some major things on the football field, and it's not fair to the other guys on the team to not put the guys out there who he thinks are best. This is Big Ten football, not NFL Europe. This isn't a farm team.

With all the times that Tressel has put Smith into games (at QB and other positions), for him to have only 4 pass attempts in all that time tells me alot. I don't think Tressel trusts Smith to put the ball in the air.

Plus, under no circumstances do you bench the QB of an undefeated team for performance reasons. That's just stupid.

When i first read the interview on "O-zone" i had a very hard time reading in to what he was saying. I could not believe that this was the same young man who in the beginning of the season, was making comments how he and Justin have no problems on who the starting QB would be that he would play what ever role in order for Ohio STATE to be sucessful for the year 2004.

Now he comes out with all this. But the whole thing that made me start thinking real hard was when i read that he and MoC are close friends and that they still talk to each other. I just have to wonder what the two had been discussing and if any of what they said had to do with the interview that was published in O-zone. Two years ago I felt that Troy Smith would have been the starter for 2004 based on what Coach Tressel was telling the media about how good Troy Smith was looking good as the QB in the scout teams and how valuable his play was in leading us to our NC.

Now all of this crap is beginning to surface, which i might add is most disturbing to me. This could lead into a very big hurdle for the Ohio State football team to overcome, if it is not NIPPED in the bud real quick. I find it hard to believe Troy Smiths timing - for him to come out with all that he has said.

I have to reasearch it but I clearly remember the press conf where Tress said they both would have the chance to play under real game circumstances. Many other people remember the same thing
VG not doubt. We can say for sure that the circumstances changed now. BTW those type of shades are all the rage in Calif. They look like a pair he stole from Carol Channing or Truman Capote

I am sorry but thats just silly (not demeaning you, just teasing) . If your going to hold Coach Tressel to every last word he says then you might as well hold the first President Bush accountable and put him in jail for "no new taxes".
Justin Zwick and Troy Smith were both evaluated and it was Coach Tressels best judgement to start Justin Zwick. Now I don't know about you but I tend to trust a Coach 5 National titles and 29 years experience as a coach, more than I would most and whoes 32-7 over the last 4 years at OSU.

I am not holding JT accountable. My only point is I can see how one of his players might in fact believe that he is telling the truth up there on the podium in front of the press. That's all.

Probably the biggest issue was that the coaches did not deliver the message to Troy in person so he feels dissed.

BTW, wasn't that "no new taxes" statement the thing that cause Pres Bush to loose the election??? Guess someone held him accountable even though at the time he was one of the most popular presidents in history. :)
