This vote actually does mean something. Because Nissan is sponsering the trophy this year they get to place a vote.

The way they're going to decide how to vote is how the country votes. So if we get enough for Troy that's pretty much handing him a free vote.

As long as the macro includes a line explicitly clearing cookies (which is a known Explorer - System command) I don't see how they could stop it.

I am using a tool called quick test pro to set up a program to select that option, clear the cookies and do it again. I hope to have this up and running by tomorrow!!!

Or, someone with a website can simply copy that page to his website and thus not be affected by cookies (provided the vote-collecting server isn't checking the HTTP_REFFERER to see where the vote is coming from)...Gee, I wonder who has his own website.

FWIW, I just threw my 12 votes in. It seems that they allow you to cast a vote both from Firefox and IE from the same computer. I have 3x computers for 6 votes.

Then, if you clear your cookies and VPN or dial-in to work, you can double your votes.

Actually, it's probably just 1 Florida fan. It seems that this is really easy to cheat at.

All you need to do is:

Download Firefox (getfirefox.com)
Configure Privacy Options

1. Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Cookies -> Settings
2. Check all the boxes except "Ask me before clearing private data"

Configure http://www.theheismanvote.com as your default homepage

Then rinse and repeat the following:

Open Firefox
Vote for Troy Smith
Close Forefox
