Getting some good squalls here.
They coming closer together now too.

Official forecast has center of the eye staying east of me, but looking at radar, the western portion of the eye should pass directly overhead around 4 or 5 tomorrow morning.

Still hoping this thing angles northward soon.
Not gonna happen soon enough for me to avoid the eye though. It's too late in the game for that to happen.
If he comes in at a low trajectory heading westward, i'll catch a full day of south winds pushing water up and testing our levee.

Stay safe.

Made it through a wild night/morning.

I'll check in with a fu report when I get power/interests back.

Weather gradually getting better.
Now just gotta hope this SW wind doesn't push in more water than our levee can hold.

Doing good so far, but still a long night ahead of us.

Good Luck and God Bless.......

We should be about done with the weather for a while now.

We got absolutely DRILLED by the eyewall.
Around 3am yesterday we took a serious ass whipping for a while.
We were in the northeast corner of the eyewall for a couple hour just taking a beating.

Then the eye sat stationary over us for close to 10 hours.

Back side of storm was a puss compared to the front side.

Lived here my whole life. Been through many, many storms.
This was one of the strangest.

We literally got hit by all 4 quadrants of it.

As of now water levels are in check.
Won't be completely at ease until winds shift, but so far so good.

Don't know how much is being reported nationally, but some areas in La are in really bad shape.
Parts of Plaquemines went under 12ft of water.
Parts of the north shore are flooded as well.

That storm stalling where it did was a blessing for me, but an absolute curse for those to my east.

I have relocated to Atlanta earlier this year.
I reached out to all my ex coworkers and friends. Most made it through unscathed, NorthShore, but the folks in Braithwaite took it hard. One family lost their house. They had lost it all in Katrina also. I have heard Slidell got it bad also. A few still have not responded, hopefully it is just the power outage.

Power came back on late Friday evening.
Spent all day at LSU yesterday.

Started cleaning yard about 8:30 this morning
Finished 15 minutes ago, and am finally sitting back on patio drinking a beer.

Damn I'm glad this shit is finally over.

and now some of isaac's remnants are back in the gulf and moving south-ish over them warm waters.

still only given a slight chance of developing into a new tropical system.

one of the computer models has it making landfall in damn near same fucking spot as last time.

other models all have it heading east over florida into the atlantic, but most of them have it making a prett close flyby this are before heading that way.

Do they know what category it could get up to?

It probably won't be more than a CAT 1 Hurricane, but unlike most CAT 1 Hurricanes, the wind field is going to be much larger in size and much more expanded from the center of the storm.

The big thing is it's going to be baroclinic energy from the jet stream right as it gets to the coast - effectively making it a Sub-Tropical or ExtraTropical storm and a Nor-Easter of epic proportions.

That's going to be a LOT of water hitting the coast, and a lot of wind energy over a vast expanse of the northeastern United States. And to be honest, I think the mountains of NY, PA, WVA and VA are going to be getting a metric fuck-ton of snow out of this and I think we could see an inch or two if it gets cold enough.

Dealing with the rain/wind bands from Sandy last night and right now. Sounded like my pool enclosure was getting whipped around pretty good last night.

It really is not too bad out, yet schools are closed today in Broward County due to the "threat" of Sandy. :shake:
