well, don't look like i'm gonna avoid this one in any way.

now just a matter of if it's a direct hit or not.
they still projecting slightly east of me (line is about 70 miles from here)

the line they have it taking may be the best option available to me.
any lower trajectory puts me in the heart of the worst part of storm.
any further west bring the tidal surge this way.

either way, conditions will start deteriorating here sometime early tomorrow AM.

not sure how much internet access I'll have in the next few days, but i'll check in with y'all somewhere on the other side of this thing.

Looks like its heading for you. But for NOLAs sake I hope it turns. Tejas really needs the rain. Just don't send it east...don't think my plywood storm shutters can handle it.

Issac is building what are called "hot towers" - he will be a Hurricane at 11PM if not sooner.

And just like that everything fell apart.

It's rebuilding the thunderstorms over the top of the circulation center, but it's 50/50 that it will be a Hurricane at 11PM. If the thunderstorms continue to build it will be a Hurricane shortly after that, but the NHC will wait to see if it sticks around this time.

if the storm had kept building the storms from earlier, it would be a Hurricane now IMO, but dry air destroyed all of the storms and broke apart the eyewall.

Yep still a 70MPH Tropical Storm as of 11PM EDT.

I can't imagine it'll take much to push it over the threshold, the minimum pressure is 979MB, which is usually a high-end CAT 1 or low-end CAT 2 Hurricane.

track moved slight to the east with the last update.

pretty much all of the tracks are keeping it east of me now.
majority of them are angling northward quicker after landfall now too.

all of which are a plus for my home town.

looking like we're gonna get a shit ton of rain though.

my hometown usually drains well, and our pumping system is solid.

the town where I work (Houma, La) on the other hand has TERRIBLE drainage.
if we get the rain they're projecting, those bastard will see some street flooding and possibly into some homes.

might even get enough to keep me out of work for the rest of the week.

sure glad school was canceled today in my county, someone coulda gotten sunburnt!

Yeah, I was surprised they canceled school in Broward and West Palm yesterday. I guess I'll let the kids have it since they don't get snow days down here like up north.

trending back towards the west again.

track is back where it was before the slight shift east.

winds are starting to pick up here.
sustained winds are only slightly above a steady breeze.
gusts a little stronger, but nothing to brag about just yet.

slight drizzle, but lots of rain in the forecast.

Getting some good squalls here.
They coming closer together now too.

Official forecast has center of the eye staying east of me, but looking at radar, the western portion of the eye should pass directly overhead around 4 or 5 tomorrow morning.

Still hoping this thing angles northward soon.
Not gonna happen soon enough for me to avoid the eye though. It's too late in the game for that to happen.
If he comes in at a low trajectory heading westward, i'll catch a full day of south winds pushing water up and testing our levee.
