already starting to evacuate non-essential personnel from oil platforms in the gulf.

i fully expected that to be ramped up to "all personnel" by Sunday-ish.

meaning it's going to be really freaking dead at work until the latter part of next week at the earliest.
judging by the latest tracks, looks like it will pass far enough away from us for us to get any of the positive side effects from Hurricanes in the Gulf.

Typhoon Bolaven is hitting Okinawa right now. For the next 24 hours sustained winds of 50 knots or greater are occurring. Between 1700 and 1900 local time, I will see sustained winds over 125 knots with gusts up to 160 knots... All from the 15th floor of my hotel.....

Hopefully I won't have to find out if this house I'm renting a room in has a roof construction style pre or post Andrew, along with impact resistant glass, etc. No storm shutters I know of, so here's to hoping. At least we don't have to deal with storm surge in Orlando.

at the moment, I'm on the western edge of the cone of uncertainty.

unfortunately, they keep shifting the track farther and farther west.
most of the computer models now seem to criss cross each other directly my house.

this is starting to suck.

any of you yankees up there looking for company for a few days?

So, I got lazy and didn't put up the shutters, and I got lucky since we only got lots of rain and gusts of only about 30mph. There is a flood advisory out for most of the day, but I don't see it being that bad around my area.

Those on the northern coast of the Gulf are the ones who are going to get hit. Stay safe guys.
