Good news is, there were no houses for sale so she is renting. Bad news is, her rental home is about to be pummeled by Irene, as the storm will track about fifteen-twenty miles west of her. She will get the full eastern eye wall. :shudder: Aaaaaaaaand...the good news, she should have some houses to buy very soon at a reduced price.Gatorubet;1974358; said:My law partner's cousin lives on San Salvador (Watling) Island in the Bahamas. Thanks, Willard.BuckeyeMike80;1973902; said:Irene may be weakening slightly.
The storm has ingested some drier air from somewhere (likely Hispaniola due to down-sloping winds from the mountains), and that is causing the system to stay roughly the same intensity for right now. However, the inner core of the Hurricane is collapsing somewhat so there might be some weakening until it pulls away from Hispaniola.
While this may be a good thing for the Bahamas, this may not work out as well for the East Coast of the US. A weaker storm won't pull as far north given the pattern in the upper levels. The weakness is there now - if Irene were stronger it would be moving more to the Northwest or even closer to due north. However, since it is weaker and not getting any stronger at this time, it's staying along and near the 290 degree WNW path.

Well this blows. Looks like the forecast track has been pushed west a bit. With these ridiculous high temps the country has been having, we really do not need high winds taking out electricity for days in high population areas.
