i have a $10 bet at the place where i work: i'll give $10 to any person who gives me a word of which i don't know the definition. i have yet to pay. some of the words they've almost gotten me on (but didn't): meretricious, borborygmus, sesquipedaliaphobia, funambulist, and iatrogenic... among others.

 That's terrific. I wish I could say my vocabulary was so extensive. BKB knows how I feel about 'colorful' vocabulary.

I love logic puzzles and games, too, and crossword puzzles and trivia. The highlight of my month is when my new Games magazine arrives.

Well done, Buckguy!

Oh, and don't worry about the hint. I'm probably the only one who's peevish about such things...

What is the most amount of money in coins only that one can have without being able to break a dollar ($1.00)?

Your correct answer must have the total and coins used.

Rats! I love these puzzles, but I already know the answer to that one. I'll keep it myself rather than runing it for everyone else. (like some other folks do  )

1.19

3 qtrs
4 dimes
4 pennies

buck guy, my S plus 'IX' thing was a joke from an earlier riddle in this thread.

CORRECT! greenies for you, bb73.

oops. i haven't gone through the previous posts, so i wasn't aware of the inside joke.

sorry, princess. i could take the two quarters and five dimes to change the dollar, so i'm afraid that 1.69 is not the correct answer.

thanks, bucky. has there been a poster who has given the answer even though he or she already had the puzzler before?

oh, back in post #24 of this thread...

shit, for all I know, he cheated this time, too!

yeah, yeah, I know. That's why I edited. Thought about deleting, but I figured I'd be honest about my mistake. :)

where is there dignity unless there is honesty? - cicero

With your alphabet clue (major giveaway), I realize that my silly reference to the earlier riddle was closer to the truth than I could have imagined. :tongue2:

Nobody will believe that the recent re-release of the John Wayne movie 'Cabin In The Sky' helped me think of that cabin thing? I just saw that movie a few weeks ago. But alas, on to another riddle soon.

yeah, that's why i took your response as earnest. i thought that it was rather ingenious to think of 9 as "ix" and, therefore, need an 's' to make "six." however, i was searching for a way that you got 's.' couldn't find it. lol. also, i couldn't figure out how the solution's path worked for the previous triangles. lol. your "solution" only racked my brain further.

you have a question/riddle, bb73?
