A man and a woman were driving in their car when it broke down. The man decided to go for help at a gas station a few miles back. He made sure nobody was in the car, rolled all the windows up, and locked all of the sedan's doors. He went off, but when he came back, his wife was dead, and there was a stranger in the car. No physical damage was done to the car, so how did the stranger get in?

And by the way, BKB, that's some funny math. Out of the $30, the hotel clerk has $25, the bellhop has $2, and the friends have $3. What missing dollar? Another way to look at is that the friends paid $27 - $25 to the clerk and $2 to the bellhop.

The man and woman weren't married. Or the car was a convertible. Or both.

I'm glad I thought about it a while before I typed in an answer.

Ok, new riddle:

[FONT=Verdana,Helvetica,Arial]The king dies and two men, the true heir and an impostor, both claim to be his long-lost son. Both fit the description of the rightful heir: about the right age, height, coloring and general appearance. Finally, one of the elders proposes a test to identify the true heir. One man agrees to the test while the other flatly refuses. The one who agreed is immediately sent on his way, and the one who refused is correctly identified as the rightful heir. Why?
