Trev Alberts - AD at Univ. of Omaha

Link
“My opportunities in broadcasting have probably been destroyed by ESPN,” said Alberts, a native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, who now lives in suburban Atlanta.
.
.
.
“You get three years, a ton of money, and if you don’t get the job done, you’re fired,” he said. “You’re basically dependent on others. You can’t always control your own destiny.”
Uh, Trev. Reality Check. Your opportunities in broadcasting were destroyed by YOU the minute you decided not to get your butt on that plane back to the Gameday set and perform your role. Failing to show up for work, being a primadonna while you're at it, and not accepting a role you agreed to while being paid good money, are the reasons you might not have "opportunities in broadcasting" anymore. Whose fault is that?

I was actually thinking about dragging this up earlier since I found out at my Ohio board that Trev was sighted in Athens.

It messes with my feelings... I hate Trev... but now he is trying to help my alma mater??? Do I puke or cheer? But I can see him being a linebacker/defensive coach and help recruit. Eh gad... I can't believe I just typed that... HELP ME!!!

is it just me, or has the departure of Trev caused Mark May to really step up his game? instead of blindly shouting his stupid opinion, he is presenting his arguments in a logical and calm manner, and GASP! he's even using facts to back his opinions up... i dunno... maybe i'm crazy, but i've been impressed with him over the last couple weeks...

Here's my favorite line of the article:

"With his TV days apparently behind him, he said he’s become “intrigued” by potential opportunities in construction and real estate, among other possibilities."
That caught my eye too. I'd say that he'll probably be hanging drywall by the end of the month, if I thought that any self-respecting contractor would hire his sorry ass.

Let me try to provide some assistance. Puke! :sick1:

If this wonderful "sports commentator" should deem to share his "extensive expertise" with Ohio University and accept the help of the man he stabbed in the back, it will be for no other reason except to advance his own self interests.

If you think about this, an assistant coaching position at Ohio University is one of the few things he can hang his hat on to show that he has any relevance in college football. Dick Butkus already had that "back to the roots and for the honor of it" high school thing already sewed up!

Trev did not cover himself in glory as an expert on ESPiN! He has engendered so much hatred among college football fans that no one would want to hire him an a commentator with all his baggage.

So, he unsuccessfully tries to maintain some self esteem by blaming ESPiN, talking about other career opportunities, and trying to find some way to pretend he has relevance in college football.

I am amazed, utterly amazed, when someone I perceive to have the journalistic morality of a gutter snipe argues that college coaches have a difficult "three and out" of their own, careerwise, and says this makes the profession unattractive, when he has played such a central role in destroying the careers of so many college coaches and administrators and creating that very destructive trend in college football.

Was this bastard having an out of body experience during the Fiesta Bowl or what? :mad1:

I cannot be positive about Trev Alberts and I think Solich will not gain much by having him arrive in Athens on a short "gee, look, the old ball coach thinks I still know my stuff" tour.

Andy Geiger had it right when he said: "They [ESPN commentators] are wannabes, never-weres, failures. They just throw stuff out."

Live by the sword, die by the sword. Somewhere in the Pacific Northwest, Andy Geiger is catching fish and smiling!

I wouldn't go that far. I've still got major issues with Mark May's commentary. However, I have to give credit where credit is due, since he popped off with a terrific burn of the West Virginia fans last night. During a discussion about the upcoming Va Tech/WVU game, and how rowdy the WVU fans can get, May mentioned that one of the toughest aspects of playing the Mountaineers at their place is that a player is actually concerned for his own physical safety because a lot of the fans throw pennies at the visitors bench. May slipped in a crack that 'those hillbillies' have to throw pennies because they can't afford to throw nickels.

:slappy:

I can't stand the guy, but that had me in stitches. Funny how these TV guys are always better when they're making fun of somebody elses' program. :wink2:

I will still never forget Herbie in this year's season preview telling Mark May that after 6 games Notre Dame would be 4-2 behind a rejuvenated offense and Mark May basically called him out and told him he didn't know what he was talking about. May thought they would be lucky to be 1-5.

Mark May just needs to shut his cock holster.

That's pretty funny. I didn't see that.

I gotta admit, too, that Mark May doesn't piss me off like he used to. Maybe he's gotten better. Or maybe he and Trev can't work together to assault me with their stupidity and retarded arguments, anymore, and Lou Holtz hasn't been able to fill Trev's shoes, yet.
