tOSU's BCS Bowl possibilities

I'd love that matchup....

I know most other folks care about "restoring credibility among the media" but I don't give a shit. I just want Ohio State to play and win, I don't care if we beat Florida or Wyoming. I want these seniors to win against whoever. If that means hoping for a more favorable matchup, then so be it.

Why why why do we have to validate ourselves as fans to the nation as to why we are deserving of big bowl games and as a top tier program? Chokelahoma has a worse record and worse beatings in BCS games the tOSU, aren't I correct. Yet, the nation and media are all about Oklahoma every year..? It doesn't make much sense to me. Sure, we get blown out in 2 BCS CHAMPIONSHIP games, and Oklahoma get crushed in one, loses to a WAC team in a BCS game, and there are a couple other ones, like WVA. Bring on Texas, thats an underdog game for us to show the country (because, I guess we have to) that we ARE elite, and will be for many more years' to come!

Word from Hooley (accept it if you so choose) vacationing in Arizona says discussions he has had with Fiesta Bowl officials guarantee if the expected becomes reality (OU stomping Mizzou and USC decimating UCLA) the Bucks are a 100% lock for a match up w/ the Steers & Queers. Given a choice b/w a mid major and the Bucks, there is no doubt the Buckeyes are going back to the desert. Officials say the promotion aspect of hyping a game lends itself to a much better match up if we play Texas rather than a mid major despite their records/ranking. Supposedly the travel issue isn't as much of a factor this year as it usually is. Since we have been to Arizona so much lately, many fans have already made that trip and given the economic status, many Buckeye fans may sit this trip out. However, the appeal to match up a team west of the Miss and a midwestern team lends itself to a better nationally intriguing game on television. This in addition to OSU's much larger national following trumps the mid majors' record and travel expectations.

At the end of the day, even though we all enjoy the rare games like Boise vs. Okla turning out to be great games, the powers that be will pit two perennial powerhouses from BCS conferences any day over the alternatives.

Which of course could be figured out without actually having to talk to the Fiesta Bowl people. As I've been saying in the mill.

Many on the Planet were assuming we would play Texas a while ago. But when's the last time college football worked out exactly like everyone thought it would a month in advance? I was merely adding some actual corroboration from people who know, to the speculation of people who guess.

Ohio State's Bowl Game

When Penn State beat Michigan State that ended Ohio State's shot at the Rose bowl and the Big Ten Champion but the Bucks still have a shot for a BCS at large bid. If they don't get the bid the Buck's will still have a good non BCS bowl game like the Capitol One Bowl.Go Bucks

Right when people expect the unexpected sometimes the obvious happens lol....

OK... So answer me this a I don't think its been answered yet. What if USC loses? Will their loss drop them below OSU and out of the BCS? Also it doesn't really matter who wins the Oklahoma/Missouri game does it?

If USC loses, Oregon State wins the 3-way tiebreaker and the Rose Bowl has a Penn St-Oregon St. rematch.

USC would be in a beauty contest with tOSU for the only open at-large spot. I believe the Fiesta would select USC over tOSU, putting tOSU in the Capital One against Georgia, but that's just my own speculation.

The Oklahoma-Missouri game probably doesn't affect whether tOSU would play in the Fiesta Bowl or not, but a Mizzou win would put Texas in the BCS Title game, Mizzou in the Fiesta Bowl as the conference champ, and knock Oklahoma right out of the BCS.
