tOSU's BCS Bowl possibilities

bukIpower;1328825; said:
CG- Florida vs. Texas Tech
Rose- Penn State vs USC
Sugar-Cincy vs Bama
Orange- Miami vs OSU
Fiesta- Texas vs Boise

Could this happen? this is what I sorta came up with here.

It's possible, but the selection sequence would make it very unlikely.

The Fiesta and Sugar both get to pick their second team before the Orange gets to pick the opponent for the ACC Champion. It's doubtful that the Fiesta would take Boise over tOSU (they could take Utah), but I can't believe the Sugar would pick Cincy (or Pitt) over a 10-2 tOSU, even though tOSU was just in New Orleans in January. The Orange Bowl would beg for it, but I don't think the Sugar would do them the favor at their own detriment.

But I'm going to make a vBet for tOSU's bowl destination.

EDIT - OK, I've created it and moved it into this forum.

I think it's pretty simple. Assuming we beat Michigan, which we will, then if MSU beats Penn State we obviously go to the Rose Bowl. If not, then if Oregon State loses another game, we go to a BCS game, likely Fiesta, and if Oregon State wins out, we go to the Captial One Bowl.

See...simple.

So I was correct. Oregon State is the enemy right now. Damn, I hope they lose because to be honest not going to a BCS bowl would really really blow. I'd be kinda down about not going to a big time bowl, but thats why we gata take care of teams when we have the chance.

It feels even better and more fulfilling to consider PSU the real enemy. Root against them too.

other than the money for the university (and the big 10), do you guys think it really matters if we make a BCS bowl game or not? we could still draw a very tough opponent elsewhere. personally, i don't think it matters if its BCS or not. any reason why i'm wrong?

You're wrong because your avatar is clean shaven.

There will be some prestige associated with the 4th straight year in a BCS bowl (which would be second to USC's 7 if they also make it).

It would also keep tOSU at least tied for the most BCS bowl appearances in the 11th year of the BCS, with 7. tOSU is currently tied with USC, Oklahoma, and Florida State with 6 appearances.

It would also give tOSU a chance to tie for the most BCS bowl wins. USC has 5, tOSU and LSU have 4, and Miami and Florida have 3.
