Game Thread tOSU vs. Virginia Tech, Sept 6th @ 8pm ET, ESPN & ESPN3 Skycam

A little 5 yard curl or slant to a TE would have gone a long way in keeping their LBs honest. Once they realized they didn't have to cover the middle of the field, it was a mad house. I know Urban doesn't like throwing to he middle of the field, but sometimes you have to take what's given to you. Not a single shot all game inside the hashes, they played right into Va. Techs game. Out coached big time in this one.

Well get ready because after tonight ever team is practicing a double eagle front with 0 behind it. Better learn how to beat it.... can we just hire ted tedford as OC already?

Reminds me of MR. BASEBALL... better adjust fast because after tonight ever team is practicing schuto

Um... You have to have awesome corners to pull off running the double eagle D.. Most teams don't have awesome corners.. Sparty and maybe another B1G. But that's it.

I'm with you.

Of course hindsight is 20/20 but how can an offense that knows its weakness is the O-Line, has playmaking talent at WR and is easing in a green QB NOT have prepared for what we saw tonight.

As an armchair DC, I would have prepared the same D to force the Buckeyes' hand.

I also don't necessarily believe that having 7 in the box means you can't hand the ball off for positive yardage. Sweeps and counters with Smith or EzE could've proven effective at getting us manageable 3rd downs. I dunno. I think even though the D had problems, the offense really didn't carry their weight. Our D-Line played about as well as you could ever ask and almost did enough alone to win a game where literally every other unit struggled.
You have to have awesome corners to run that D. Most teams don't but VA tech does. Doubt most teams will run that D against us.

This /\

We needed to get the TE involved, but with a weak O-line, coach probably didn't feel comfortable trying to get a TE into a route.

I got tired of listening to the announcers and finished watching the game in the skycam broadcast on ESPN3 (streamed).

Sadly, this performance and the coaching and the atmosphere will come back to haunt us in recruiting this year since this was the big OV night for many of our Blue chippers we are in on. Not good.

Yes, we got out-coached
but worse, we got out-played

Other than DL, which of the 9 units do you feel won their battle?
If you believe that "It's not the X's and O's, it's the Jimmys and Joes”
we lost 8-1

A 24 yard punt.. missed 2 easy FGs... KO out of bounds... we sucked
We, especially I, need to rethink our "play makers".. cuz they disappeared last night

My rose colored glasses made me filter the issues with:
the middle of the OL
the WRs
the LBs without Shazier
the DBs
VT tore off my glasses and stomped on them
