Game Thread tOSU vs. Virginia Tech, Sept 6th @ 8pm ET, ESPN & ESPN3 Skycam

It would be nice to hear that VT was a quality opponent who played a good game, and deserved the win....Good game Ohio State, looking forward to seeing you in Blacksburg next year. It was a very thrilling second half, and as a Hokie living in the Cleveland area, I look forward to Ohio State kicking the crap out of the rest of their schedule. That includes that f'ing team up north! Go VT. Go Ohio State.

If you're not seeing deep respect for their D and the play of their QB, then you're not looking very hard. Good win by VT, no question about that.

Make no mistake. VT won every phase of this game and deserved the win. Got a great team. Good luck here on out.

Heard the same things in the off season.

I disagree. You prepare for this game. You train for this game, condition, gameplan (although that's debatable) and as a player this is the atmosphere you come to tOSU for. So, it may not matter to fans who look at this as a 'rebuilding' year. It may not matter to the fans that this game doesn't determine who ends up winning the conference, but it matters to these kids. That's why I sympathize. If I'm putting time, sweat and passion into something, then you better believe it's going to matter.

Yes, this game mattered. We want a measuring stick to see where this team and where this coaching staff is. I'm sure the players and coaches wanted that. It's not everyday you get to play against Virginia Tech and a fine coach like Beamer.

Why even play OOC games or schedule then if they don't matter? Because if we don't look good enough to make it too the playoffs that somehow the value of a marquee opponent is diminished? I can't buy that. Not for a moment.

My point is that it seems the best we can hope for this season is a conference title and a halfway decent bowl game. The former isn't injured at all by this loss.

The losses are never easy. I'm generally a pretty grumpy person when the Buckeyes lose. Actually, it used to be pretty bad. The Buckeyes mean a lot to myself (and my dad, much of what a huge bond in our relationship takes place over). Some losses are easier than others. This one...despite a belief and hope, I felt pretty resigned too throughout the game.

Just don't want losses to ever become too easy to deal with. This is Ohio State. Though it didn't feel like it tonight.
At least we know 1) For Ohio State, a bad day is an aberration, not a way of life, and 2) M*ch*g*n sucks

Really the game came down to two extremely pivotal plays, both if which went against us. Yea out kicker missed a 40 yarder, but not a chip shot. Plus they missed a 45 yarder. But the missed td catch by corey smith that led to the missed 30 yard chip shot plus the no call fumble that ended with a td is a 14 point swing. And I can't think of anything other than the missed fg that VT missed in terms of points for us or against them. Both of those go our way (or really just don't go against us), then we very well/most likely win. Everything would have changed, including the god awful play calling most likely.

Didn't realize there were any hokies here. Hell of a game. D is legit, and it makes me sad because we used to have that. Go make some noise and good luck!
