Game Thread tOSU vs. Virginia Tech, Sept 6th @ 8pm ET, ESPN & ESPN3 Skycam

Bro-in-law taking shit. Can't wait for tomorrow night. Just told him Gobbler's going to choke on some Bucknuts. Back in Stow for the weekend to warch with my dad. Going to be a great weekend. Already is as I am eating Swensons as I type this.

I have a feeling that Vonn Bell has a big impact in this game. He's either going to get a turnover or be in the right place to cause one and spark this defense to go on a serious run of Silver Bullet football. I don't know why but I think this defense was built to play against Va Tech's kind of offense. Proof will be in the puddin.

Look at it as if you were a VT fan.

You are going on the road with a very young team to play a team that has better athletes and more of them. The game is in a notoriously hostile and noisy environment at night.

If your smaller, quicker defenders cant confuse the blocking schemes and create turnovers/TFL's against the other bigger, stronger faster offense....then what?

Where do you as VT have the edge?

I can see concerned. But cold shower catastrophe? Joe Bauserman's not walking through that door.

I expect a win tomorrow night but the Navy game was not exactly a measuring stick, at least for the defense. Hopefully the line that showed up in the 2nd half of the game shows up and not the one that played in the 1st half.

Ohio State has the talent to beat Va. Tech easily, but there are still several question marks that hopefully can get answered tomorrow night with a positive result.

I suspect you are correct, but if the oline hasn't really gelled yet, then things COULD get ugly. I'm excited about this game but some things about our online and our back 7 on D give me heartburn
The OL is my #1 concern by a country mile. We all laughed at what a catastrophe scUM was last year due to poor line play and an inability to settle on a rotation. One thing that helps ease my concern is that from what we've seen over the past two years, Ed Warriner is one of the best in the business. So, while there may be some bumps in the road, I think things will shake out okay. How that impacts a game so early on in the process is TBD.

Varsity Club early Friday evening is fine, but you have about zero chance to get in and get served on Saturday. The "bars" all got wiped in the South Campus Gateway project. The North 'berg went under about the same time. The last real campus bar and my personal favorite from college days was Larry's. Alas, Larry's became a bad taco place and then was wiped out. The only thing that feels even remotely close to a college bar is the Blue Danube, home of the blue plate special. It's up on North High Street close to Hudson. Still serves up a decent, cheap steam table meal and a good choice on beer and libations. The new bars are pretty much fern bars or "corporate." OK, but hardly "college bar" material. Nowhere near campus, but the Red Door in Grandview and Bucket of Nails in Gahanna have great burgers and draw a strong OSU crowd. OK, the Red Door is more an Alum bar, but...

Campus bars that aren't corporate missing quite a few here, The Library, Too's, Out-R-Inn, Oldfields, Bernies, 4th Street, Mama's Pasta and Brew, Ethyl and Tank, Bier Stube, The Thirsty Scholar. Now I wouldn't really suggest trying to take small children into any of these places on a gameday.
