Game Thread tOSU vs. Northern Illinois, Sat 9/19 @ 3:30pm ET, ABC/ESPN2

"A win is a win" is bullshit. The offense played fucking horrible today and the play calling was awful as well. Everyone involved should feel bad, players and coaches both have a lot to work on. 15-0 can still happen but this team isn't even close to picking up where they left off last year.

"Most of us are sitting there watching and going, wow, can we tackle? Can we cover a kickoff? Don’t change (that mindset). Don’t you change that, The minute we stop expecting greatness from our football program, we become Wisconsin.”
-Craig Krenzel

Our woes right now are on offense but we should be upset with this, it's not okay, just because it's a "W" doesn't mean it's good enough.

Defense was fantastic another game with less than 200 total yards of offense.

Nah man the offense is officially in some deep dog [Mark May]. That's as bad as I've ever seen an offense look. I can't even remember Tressel's offense looking that bad for four straight quarters.

I can.

33-7 loss to Iowa in 2004? Hell, most of 2004. They managed 137 yards of offense against NC State.
2007 against Akron? 3-2 at half.
35-3 against USC? 207 yards of offense.

The offense is struggling big time, but they have flashes (when they don't shoot themselves in foot.)

Those were simply putrid.

Welp, time to avoid all sports media this week.

Still undefeated. Let 'em yap. The media saying all of those nice things about the Buckeyes leading up to the season didn't do anything to help us. Maybe having their manhood questioned will be a good thing for our team right now.

I feel like the coaching staff thought the offense was going to come and click right away with a bunch of guys in new or expanded roles. Seems like the coaching staff want the big plays, if they take a step back and take the 4-5 yard plays that are there, it might help build the offense back up. I can understand not wanting to run Zeke so he is fresh at the end of the season but running the ball up the middle will help the offensive line click.

Why are tOSU fans such spoiled bitches?
Why do tOSU fans act like a win is a loss?
Why is it that despite a loss early in the 2014 season, tOSU went on to curb stomp Wisky, Bama, and Oregon, yet Buckeye fans still act like anything less than a perfect game is...how do I phrase this...an "embarrassment", "pathetic", or "fire [insert offensive coach here]"?

It's so fucking tiresome. This game was a let down, for sure, but a win is a mother fucking win last time I checked. If you've lost faith, fuck yourself, jump off a bridge, or root for some other team. But whatever you do, please quit posting because I don't really feel like dealing with your negative bull[Mark May] when your entire attitude will flip when tOSU repeats as UNDISPUTED NATIONAL FUCKING CHAMPIONS
You're good people and all but I can't even imagine a perfect game at this point. Okay I lied, 336-0 win in AA against those fucks up north. We could have scored more but they sent Roberto Duran out at halftime to say "No mas" at midfield.

That's such a legendary burn on Wisconsin

It's not?! Throwing the ball on 1st down while Elliott averages 5 yards a carry, running east-west with Samuel on 2nd?! Feed Elliott, and this game is fucking over...

But fumbling exchange, fumbling snap, 3 bad interceptions (almost a 4th), fumbling RB, 7 penalties (mostly on OL) - same # as last week too

That's not coaching.
There's room for improvement with playcalling. But the big problems (5 turnovers, drive-killing penalties) aren't on the coaches.

Ohio State opens as 31.5-point favorites vs. Northern Illinois

Somehow I thought Northern Illinois was a little better than that.

Well I thought this could be a lot closer than the point spread and/or a "trap game".

I think execution can be a reflection of coaching and/or related to a coaching style. The way the offense (and quarterbacks are) is playing does anyone think the team misses Tom Herman more than Urban Meyer lets on?

Hard to get consistently better with consistently questionable play calls..

Guess I am happy I missed the game. Only need to read the last page or 2 of comments to figure out they lost.

Oh wait. They didn't.

Seems like they are going backward each week. Not sure what is wrong exactly but I hope it gets fixed very soon.

Two of those games were against great defenses. That USC defense is regarded as one of the best Trojan defenses ever. 2004 Iowa was a young Buckeye offense against a Top 10 Hawkeye defense. Against Akron well...at least we scored two offensive TDs that game.
