Game Thread tOSU vs. Indiana, Nov 22nd @ 12pm ET, BTN

Okay. So was it Urban's idea to add music to improve the environment...or play five second snipits of turn down for what while our hurry up offense is on the field.

Playing different songs doesn't work.

Maybe playing one...on defense...might.

Enter sandman. Zombie Nation. Something hard or techno with a beat. Something that screams defense. And only played when the fans need to get loud for the defense. Hells Bells on third down needs to remain a staple...it works.

I'm sorry. But Penn State for a day game against Indiana is as quiet as Ohio Stadium or any other stadium playing day games against bad teams. You can't change that. Of course it's loud when we go on the road...it's that's team biggest home game in the past two years.

Whatever that was during the game yesterday...that needs to end. Stick to one song. Maybe our defense could rally around a song...maybe something the team comes out to as well. Maybe like something by rage, or Metallica, or something that can be a mantra for the team.

Turns out I was right, I just didn't know it would be our pain for almost 3 quarters.

It's gotta be Maroon5... nothing says college football like Maroon5.

The Maroon 5 doesn't bother me so much because I'm assuming it'll be gone after this year. At least, ABC has changed the prime time intro theme each year. In recent years, just off the top of my head, I remember they've used Dave Matthews Band (Why I Am), Eminem (Berzerk), and Muse (Uprising).

Gameday's use of Big & Rich is really tired though. As far as the Indiana game PA use, Centuries by Fall Out Boy has got to go. That one is probably the absolute worst because it's (1) fucking Fall Out Boy, and (2) being used by ESPN for all their weekly CFB teaser commercials.

Slightly more serious, apparently this is what should actually be played on constant loop (just cut the feed to stadium speakers off during play)
The players may revolt, but so long as they take it out on the opponent 8D

I used to play Petty's I Won't Back Down for my daughter on the way to her soccer matches over and over. Maybe that would work. Of course, she was only 8.
(Yes, I know I'm old and yes, I know that's a ridiculous statement.)

Don’t Rock the Juke Box

There were a couple rumors that surfaced this past weekend regarding Ohio State’s decision to play more canned music during their game against Indiana.

So to be clear: OSU says neither coach Urban Meyer nor president Michael Drake requested that happen.

There apparently was a concern that with the weather and late-arriving crowd, there wouldn’t be as much excitement early on vs. the Hoosiers as there normally is on a game day. Therefore, they went with the prerecorded music to try to introduce some volume.

Around halftime, they realized they needed a little bit of a course correction, so the Marching Band played more after the intermission.

Cont'd ...

The only thing I noticed during the game was how stupid it was to play songs with slow build ups before the main riff- over and over again songs got cut short before the 'pump up' part because they didnt have enough time to get to it.

That said, maybe I'm getting old, I don't care.

I don't recall hearing that but it was probably one of the slow builds I mentioned and I'm proud to say I wouldn't recognize that song.

Fall Out Boy found the formula for lame "pump up" music and are now going to release the same thing over and over again that will be used for sports thanks to being on contract with the same parent company as the broadcast networks.

Maroon 5 is the most uninspiring shit prior to a big game. That sucks too.
