Game Thread tOSU vs BYE, Sat. Oct. 24th

Fahey isn't braxton or anything but he can and is willing to take off. I think with 2 weeks they can implement ways to utilize his legs which can open up the passing game some for him.

USCs defense is awful and Oregon is a confused mess at the moment. If our D plays like they did today I think we beat both of them.

Hanging onto today's game was huge keeping us at 1 L and having that 2nd mulligan in the pocket still as well.
Honestly I'd be terrified to watch him run. He's tiny. I don't know his tru ssize but he looks my size out there. 5'10 180

This is so surreal that OSU could be #2 or 3 after this week, and I feel so ill with how the teams health is. yes, Im glad OSU won and made the Hoosiers have to go back and get their shine box. Losing Sayin, and not knowing about Kenyatta Jackson and Jacobi Jackson is a problem no one else in CFB I can ever remember having. Fahey/TSC is giving me intense negative recollections of Brown/Kienholz. The offense has to be shrunk IMMEASURABLY now because you have a 1 and 2yr player as your only viable options. Ryan Day, Carlos Locklyn, Arthur Smith, and Tyler Bowen, you will need to earn every penny of your paycheck the rest of the season. Because even when Sayin returns, you’re going to need to worry about that shoulder for several weeks.

Idc who starts between Fahey and TSC, play the guy that will put you in the best spot and minimize errors. We do not need a guy thinking he’s a superhero out there, neither seem to be there yet. I can see more work on screens, slants and PA, becuase the run game will now take over. I can see a 3yds and a cloud of dust Type even with JJ. Idk if Day will feel fully comfortable letting either guy just let it fly if they can get their shine box RBs at a 4-4.5/yds car avg. And thats where Bowen has a lot of pressure, and Siereveld will hopefully be healthy by USC. I think 4 RBs will get a healthy amount of carries for several weeks and the defense will need to be relied upon to also carry.

Time for Day to lean on what made him the offensive guru he is known for. Start utilizing the mesh scheme more.

So much for a Bye week as a time to take a breather and heal up. Looks like there will be lots of early mornings and late nights this week to get the Next Man Up ready.
Yep.

If the goal is make the playoffs then our best path is as B1G champs. If we can beat USC and Oregon in the next two games we should have a commanding inside track for one of the two CCG spots.

These, “it might be like Missouri” posts seem absurd to me. Leaving aside Fahey himself, who we have seen make plays against a bad defense, which is what USC has, as opposed to being thrown unexpectedly into a very high pressure situation against an elite defense, we have a deep team with its back a bit up against the wall and everything to play for, not a roster decimated by guys not playing, a QB who was ostensibly prepped for the game being hurt pretty early, and a who gives a shit situation. Score 17 and we’ll be fine.

All things considered this is a very strategic week for the good guys. Methinks that over the next couple weeks we really need to work on our run game which has slowly gotten better. We need to keep USC's Offense off the field and shorten the game. Hopefully, BO, Jakobi, West and Bey will all be available for USC.
Would love to see Austin back on the OL but that might be a big ask. But it does give us a couple more weeks to get a better chemistry between Van Sickle and Daniels. As well as the LHS of the OL.
Giving Day, Arthur Smith and Matty P two weeks to get ready for USC is a big advantage. Hopefully they will have a very physical game against Wisconsin and Fickle will put a beat down on them.
Thinking we also work on our short and intermediate passing game and trust the Silver Bullets to show up big time against the Trojans.

Would imagine that Day & Co would have two offenses working side by side for the next two weeks. One with Fahey at the controls, and one with TSC. Run the D1 and D2 teams alternatively, and maybe pull out their stops. Not argument about who's QB1 or QB2, just work them both hard, and see who shows out. At best, one is an injury from being QB1. Too bad cannot call someone up from the minors, but there it is. Thought Day signed an experienced back-up as insurance from the portal. But my mind doesn't seem to recollect all of late. Anyway, clearly challenges, and ALL the WRs need to 'help' either of these two newbie QBs excel. As well as the OL, who seem to be playing sieve lately. And don't get me started on the RBs. Will be interesting to watch.

I promise you if 6-1 Bama or Georgia was put in our situation, there is no way the AP voters would put BYU in front of them.

The OSU disrespect is alive and real.

The SEC is eating itself alive like a group of disgusting trapped rats. Let them.

Who gives a shit about the big ten getting ragged on. Head out to SoCal in a couple weeks and put them out of their misery - be the game that gets Riley fired.

It doesn't matter now but it will when a B1G is fighting for a playoff spot or for a particular seeding.

These things matter more than on a week to week basis. It's a perceptions issue.
