2027 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Ironically Bill and Dave talk about this subject starting at 14:20

Miami paid more money.

If these peeps want to talk about the wallet getting bigger for the trenches, that's a credible conversation as it relates to Miami.

Miami doesn't have to pick. They sign Mark Fletcher and the OL. They hilariously overpaid for Carson Beck.

As a phiosophical wake up call? No, it's not credible. Michigan bullied them for years.

It's not like OSU built a championship favorite roster for 2025 and thought, let's hang our hat on Austin Siereveld at LT. They wanted David Sanders. They wanted other portal guys. They just did not get it done (probably financially).

This question isn’t targeted at you or anyone in particular, and I just posted the tweet as tongue in cheek as it does seem like particular moments and games cause Day to pivot. But did Day cause the heavy strategy for the trenches in ‘27, or did the Collective finally step up and start helping the coaches in a way they haven’t previously? Just wonder if the Miami game is what changed it for the boosters, because at the end of the day, it’s not Day coughing up the money for recruits

Everyone is imperfect so Day is going to make mistakes and, to his credit, learn from them. True.

It’s also true that simple stuff like, special teams matter or Coombs calls the same defense in every play, shouldn’t be costing you seasons at this level of the sport.

I don’t want to see my $10MM man head coach, who I firmly believe is the greatest offensive coach we have seen at OSU since Paul Brown, having a V8 moment about stupid simple stuff.

Day perplexes me.

Exactly this. He's smarter offensively than anybody that has been in that locker room by a wide margin.....and yet the mistakes he needs to learn from could have been learned by asking the dumbest schmuck on bucknuts.

But, to be fair, I'm not chalking up losing to Miami as any kind of light bulb moment.....like what jwins is saying. So I'm really just taking him to task for playing scared, inexplicable Michigan game plan, and whatever the heck special teams have been.

And honestly, Miami could've been beaten if he would've stayed running up tempo offense..

How is this class only ranked 9th? Genuinely asking
Recruiting services rank team classes weighted more towards quantity of commits more than quality. OSU has the least of commits in the entire top 10 and has the second least in the top 15. Recruiting sites don’t like that. But if you want to know who has the strongest class, go by the recruit/avg. in that case, OSU is #3 in the country. So OSU has the third highest ranked assortment of talent coming to their team in another year. Thats more important.

Would echo that and point out that we snipe high level talent in the portal at positions of need. When it's all said and done, this class should be top 5 easy and probably top 3.
