Has to be brutal for Penn State fans. That’s the collateral damage of firing your coach midseason. They better be raising major NIL loot to setup the next coach. I understand Franklin was low probability to get to the top but it’s going to cost them way more than the buyout of Franklin to get back to where they were already at.

Ive been saying that since Franklin was fired. Firing him mid season is going to an incredible amount of damage to the program, with recruits, current players, incoming coaches, AD and program as a whole. I tried telling this to a co worker who’s a Ped St fan. He said that they had to do something to make another step. I made the point that what if they were already at their ceiling. His counterpoint was JoePa, and then mine was that if you’re using an NC from 40yrs ago as your level of success, than your program is not an NC relevant program. They’re a 9-10win program which is where Franklin had them. Firing him just made the next HC’s job almost impossible because his seat is hot if he doesn’t win the B1G in year 2 and an NC by year 3. And if the coach has less than 9 wins(which I think he will since so much talent will be leaving and recruiting is a massive burden there) than you’re going to have some embarrassed and pissed off big money donors who will have caused this entire mess

Birm today on his talking stuff:
-OSU still wants a third corner. He sees OSU moving down the list past Bronaugh because he doesn't see him taking a discount in NIL to come to OSU.
-Truly Bell from California might be someone they target at CB.
-Tennessee trying to save Bey in their class by visiting him today. Might not matter. Mick Walker said Bey might be wearing OSU gear at his playoff game tonight. Both said it might be very hard for the Vols to win this one back.

He's extremely long and barely noticed by recruiting services.
As the 2,032nd ranked recruit, I imagine he won't require much in the way of NIL

Also, Per Birm:
Said OSU's first choice is to keep Klare at TE for next year. After they know where he is leaning they will get aggressive at TE to end the cycle.

-Birm said he expects a decision from Bey by the end of the weekend. Said his best comp is Curtis Samuel. They don't want to take 2 RBs this late so Latimer seems to be odd man out because Bey is a different kind of player. They want to wait to see if any backs enter the portal after the season instead of taking 3 backs in this class.
-Ruffin might commit within the next 48 hours to OSU.
-Birm said he expects Brown to flip to WVU and Rich Rod is promising "whatever it takes" money wise to flip him. Both Birm and Walker said he is not a make or break guy for OSU. Said the family has prioritized "legacy" and financial considerations over anything else. OSU might pivot to someone in state (Wilhelm).
