2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

news is fast and furious

Birm and Mick Walker saying they expect the class size to finish at 30, based on conversations they’ve been having with sources. That leaves around 9 open spots:
RB - Legend Bey, potentially someone else as Birm said previously the staff has backup options if Latimer goes elsewhere.
TE - still chipping away at Mack Sutter
OL - Kevin Brown
DL - Emanuel Ruffin, Dre Quinn, JJ Finch ideal finish
LB - Braxton Rembert
DB - Jay Timmons and CJ Bronaugh

Another interesting note, apparently Birm said in the past Ohio State has their eye on a RB and is watching to see if they enter the portal.

The switch to taking 2 RBs this class instead of 3, could be a sign that their guy will hit the portal.

Any thoughts on who it could be? I assume it will be a player on a team that is not having a great season, the head coach got fired, or both?

No idea who it could be, but multiple people have guessed Jadan Baugh from Florida:

Same size as Amari Latimer, productive two seasons at Florida. I’d watch for Ahmad Hardy at Missouri too if Drink leaves Missouri for one of these openings.

I love Baugh! He’d be a great pickup to help in the 3 rb rotation.

That would make sense with lock not pursuing Amari Latimer as hard as Legend Bey at the moment.
I think Baugh makes a whole lot of sense. Florida fired Billy Napier recently. He was being used completely wrong in the Florida offense. Florida constantly forced the ball down field by throwing it even when they had 5+ yards per carry from Baugh when he did run. Now that might have due to light boxes from opposing defenses knowing they were going to throw the ball 70% of the time, but he still had to find the whole and break some tackles. I would be happy with Baugh if he did enter the portal. Definitely not as good as Judkins out of the portal but by far a better transfer back than Donaldson if Baugh did enter the portal.

I didn’t realize Ahmad Hardy is just a sophomore, I think he will be the RB prize of this year’s transfer portal. Similar path as Quinshon Judkins, 1400 yards his first year, on pace for another 1200 yards this year, already has played himself into a day 2 draft pick.

Could transfer from Missouri and protect his body along with chasing a title. Definite transfer if Drink leaves Missouri for Penn State, Florida, LSU or Auburn.

Baugh would be a home run get, guys been very effective in a otherwise awful Florida offense.

Loy was talking about Emanuel Ruffin when he said Ohio State could be getting good news before the weekend is over, said Ruffin had silently committed to Missouri even before he decommitted from Colorado, but Ohio State has the momentum and confidence now while Missouri has lost confidence.
Also said Ohio State feels they will land Jay Timmons, Legend Bey and Kevin Brown. Said they’re only concerned about the possibility of Penn State having someone hired before December 3rd and that person convincing Brown to stay in the class.

Loy said Ohio State has a plan to use Legend Bey as a RB, WR out of the backfield, slot WR, PR and KR. Electric kid just get the ball in his hand. Said Bey’s stock is rising, Tennessee expected to visit him today and tomorrow to stop him from flipping.

Also said he’s surpised Latimer hasn’t flipped to Ohio State yet, sign that things may have changed.

this poster has been pretty spot on in the Latimer recruitment...

BengalErnst 55 minutes ago
Latimer waited himself out of being a Buckeye. Only way that happens now is if Tennessee is successful in re-recruiting Bey to them. As of now, Bey will be a Buckeye and Latimer will stick with Wisconsin if Miami doesn’t make a bigger push for him.

Latimer and Bey are two different style RBs; we can land both and effectively employ both on field at the same time.
"Can" and "Want to" are different things. Just repeating what the smart people here have said, they only want 1 more RB in this class....possibly to make sure David Gabriel Georges knows he's priority 1 next year.

And to add to what @BuckeyeNation27 said, there may be only 2 possible RB options at seasons end. Per recruiting etiquette, I wont give actual names, but im sure everyone can figure it out. But Akih and Bey(or Latimer) would easily be those replaceable names

From someone in the know on FSU side, Timmons came to Ohio State for less NIL. This is the type of kid you want at Ohio State.
“I want to compete with the best.” He told Wiltfong.

Khmari Bing was the same, Birm said Ohio State gave Bing a number and he and his family were okay with it and committed. No negotiations, no games, just a kid who wants to play football and win.

Non-monetary compensation is a real thing in any career.
