2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I mean, is anyone under the impression that feedback along those lines hasn’t already been thoroughly presented to Day? It feels dumb as well to think we know something he doesn’t that’s this obvious.

The budget management is what drives the culture a la talent retention. You start overpaying for unproven freshmen that’s when your waiting in wings players bolt when their time is up.

I don’t think you can have it both ways. Look at the schools that have been paying excess dollars since NIL started - some have already seen coaching changes,

I don’t know. It’s hard for me to feel some sort of way about it yet - at least until it becomes obvious that we are losing games because of an obvious talent disparity.

I’m with you on that. On one end, it sucks to lose these big name recruits, but then when Day is able to retain the entire roster, im excited by that. I don’t expect a high paid true freshman in many positions to contribute much their first year. but the returning player at that the same position could become much more valuable in the short term. Does anyone think that David Sanders starts this year over Siereveld and Daniel’s? And if he did, would we feel comfortable with a true frosh LT In game 1 against Texas?

The people that need to hear that aren’t paying attention to Austin and Birm. Day and Pantoni need to make that case to the right folks.
I can assure you that Day and Pantoni have spoken to every admin in the athletic department and every big name with the collective. The strategy (for now) has been chosen. prioritize keeping the roster in tact. And that strategy has made sure that guys like Inniss, Tate, Matthews, Reese, Jackson, etc remained in S&G and didn’t hit the Portal. Would we want to see some high priced freshman replace any of those names? Because that would easily be the alternative.

If that is truly the strategy right now I expect us to be right back where we need to be in recruiting next cycle. Because if not, that means problems down the line. It already might mean that anyways.

Where does the talent come from in a couple of years when the current guys are out of eligibility?
