2025 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Exactly…They aren’t interested in being a Buckeye or playing for LJ/Knowles and their coaching.

I'll take a recruit who actually wants to be here in their place and we can also hit the transfer portal for DL help if needed, it's really no big loss, frustrating? yes but does it matter in the grand scheme? no.

Are we seeing more decommitments this year than normal? And I am not talking about just us.

I can’t support it with confirmed quantitative data but it surely seems like it to me. I just wonder if this is the new climate with more schools joining the NIL arms race — you’ll continue to see this until more financial parameters are effectuated a la cap or something.

I think last year, this year, and probably next will be the peak. Some parameters are coming so some schools are spending like no tomorrow. Reminds me of that one year without an NFL cap and I think it was Dallas that ended up going on a spending spree.

the pitchfork and torch brigade leader weighs in...yawn.....

No pitchfork in hand but Mathis and Merritt defecting this late in the game is a swift kick to the nuggets at a position of need. The timing likely leaves us scrambling to find a consolation prize, or makes us desirable to portal prospects if you you want to take the glass half full approach.
