2025 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

So a potential secondary class of:

CB:
Sanchez
Offord
Woodby

S:
Stewart
Hadaad
Delane
McNutt

Position TBD:
Brew

And that's assuming that Woodby remains in the class(there have been whispers of him not wanting to be in such a big DB class)

We've had a lot of updates, commits and decommits, so it is time to revamp the RB07OSU prediction for the '25 class:

QB: Tavien St. Clair (we'll stay put here with 2 QBs in the '24 class)
RB: Jordan Davison (I had him out in my last rendition, but hiring Coach Lock is a huge plus and gets Jordan in this class imo...top RB in the nation)
RB: Bo Jackson (seems to be a top target for the staff...I hope we have room for Davis...I know 3 RBs seems absurd but Davis is going to be special and I would hate to see him go somewhere else)
WR: De'zie Jones (bit of a surprise commit and at the heels of the Boggs decommit...need to watch his film)
WR: Jaime Ffrench (confidence level is high here)
WR: Vernell Brown III (I like where we stand here, just trying to kick off the South Florida recruiting vibes)
WR: Dakorien Moore (this is probably more of a wish than a prediction, he will be a tough pull...but we have made a serious push here...I would say one of Brown III or Moore, 3 WRs seems right in this class)
TE: Nate Roberts (one of the best at his position and strong confidence on him)
OL: Carter Lowe (done deal, stud)
OL: Avery Gach (we were in the lead but haven't heard a peep recently...but we better land him, not really many other realistic targets at OL right now)
OL: David Sanders Jr (this is a stretch of a stretch, but he did just visit and we need him big time)
OL: Micah Debose (another that likely won't happen, but I don't know of anyone else realistic here...am I missing someone on the OL?)
DE: Zahir Mathis (stud)
DE: London Merritt (really a huge commitment, I feel good about the DE class now)

DE: Mariyon Dye (would be a great ending to the DE class and I think we are right there)
DT: Maxwell Roy (quiet recruitment but I think we are primed to land this kid...my favorite DT that we have a legit shot at)
DT: Brandon Caesar (haven't heard much on him lately, but we need at least 2 DTs in this class)
DE/LB: Justin Hill (still don't know what position he lands at, but I have him in)
LB: Eli Lee (done)
LB: Tarvos Alford (huge pickup, if we get another LB it is a cherry on top)

LB: Riley Pettijohn (would be a very nice cherry on top, we are in a good spot with him...Madden Faraimo is another that I have on par with Pettijohn and is realistic)
DB: Devin Sanchez (done)
DB: Blake Woodby (done)
DB: Na'eem Offord (committed, but I would stay leery on him being in this class until there is a signature)

DB: Trey McNutt (still think he ends up a Buckeye, but we are in a fight)
DB: Faheem Delane (confidence level is still very high here)
DB: Dorian Brew (my confidence has dipped here, the move has made this a less sure thing...still think his heart is in Columbus though)
DB: Deshawn Stewart (another surprise commitment...that would make 7 DBs in the class and that is high, but Knowles plays a lot of DBs and I am still relatively confident on the rest of the safeties)

- That would be an awesome class, but I don't know what is going on with the OL class or the DTs. Hopefully something is in the works there, we need this to be a good class at those positions.

The big TBD will be who/how many athletes go portal after spring practice. There's a bunch of guys sitting behind some of the 1-2's that have been in the system for awhile. And are looking to be bypassed by some of this incoming class (ie WRs, RB, OL, DBs, Ss), or will be if Day hits the portal himself. To your salient point, some of the above commits might decide to be a #1 somewhere else, instead of #4 in this class. Agree wholeheartedly. Am thinking only the sure things will get freshman NIL money, rest have to earn it. Some will disagree, but this class, as RB has put it, is outrageously chock full of future NFLers. My crystal ball is a bit cloudy, so nothing to predict. Great time to be a Buckeye. Go Bucks

Best of all it's still only 27 recruits. We could still go full SEC and add another dozen or so .... :pimp:

I think that will be the issue with almost all the elite teams in CFB. No longer can a program stock themselves full of 5 and 4stars and expect them all to stay until graduation or NFL pursuits. Kids at UGA, Oregon, Texas, Bama, etc will start looking around if they're backups and don't see any path towards considerable PT. And they will have "family and friends" in their ears encouraging these moves as well. But that is the era we are in, and everyone will have to deal with it. The 5th WR at Bama leaving for Arizona, the 3rd S for Oregon leaving for Purdue, etc etc will be a scene that we see going forward. But at the end of the day, the same teams will get the best players and still win the most games. All the Playoff will do is give some more teams false hope and watch another blue blood hoist the NC at the end of the year.

Dierre Hill :
This is a RB recruit who Birm mentioned on his last podcast. Locklyn has a great relationship with him, and Oregon was close to landing his committment before Locklyn left for OSU. Maybe one to watch along with the recent offer to Shekai Mills-Knight

https://www.si.com/college/oregon/r...dierre-hill-jr-following-first-trip-to-eugene

"Just gonna keep the recruiting process up. Looking for whatever comes. I still have a great relationship with Coach Lock and Coach Lanning, but I talk to Coach Lock every day."

My only complaint is that wonder list of pnuts is woefully short on the OL. Need at least one stud OT, and a couple of very good IOLs. As always, the pundits are applauding tOSU's skill positions, and bypassing how the newbie OLs are doing. Thought there would be a couple of good 'uns in last two years catch, but guess the newsies are not getting the hits on articles on the blue collar guys. Starting to see the top-rated OTs start to winnow down their lists, and tOSU is noticeably absent. Sounds like with tOSU's new 'OL advisor', who has been OL coach and OC, there's a couple of good OL coaches on board, so maybe we'll see one or more studs fall to the Buckeyes? Go Bucks!

Trust me, that’s also my complaint. Problem is, OH is down very bad so far on OL, the top one is already committed to OSU, but there’s a cliff between Lowe and even the next OL- Davenport. He may earn an offer but will need to camp. The rest of the OH OL are lower tier P5 or MAC level projects. And we’ve already been down that road with Stud. And OOS is always tough without seeing them live, and the higher ranked ones are committed or already leaning places. Frye will need a combo of the Portal and logging some serious travel miles. Every analyst I’ve seen has no idea on names for IOL and IDL
