2025 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Not only does he have one of the best names in the entire recruiting industry, but Arizona prospect Bear Tenney is emerging as a priority tight end target for Ohio State in the 2025 recruiting class.

Tenney picked up his OSU offer from Kevin Wilson and Ryan Day on June 28, then made his first gameday visit on Sept. 3 for the Notre Dame game.

“It was the loudest atmosphere I’ve ever been in,” Tenney told Eleven Warriors.

Added bonus, his mom > qb from iowa’s Mom from a few years back.

Enjoy the visits, and then come on home to Cbus and wear S&G :oh:

Absolutely, even if I knew I was 100% going to OSU, I would take all of my visits and enjoy it. I respect the ones that just commit early and don't visit anywhere else, but it is a really fun experience to see all the campuses and atmospheres, and you only get that opportunity once. I also encourage it because I think there is about 0% chance Montgomery is going to be wearing any uni other than S&G

This is pretty cool for me to post as I went to HS with this kids Dad....

This season Pickerington (Ohio) North wide receiver Preston Bowman has established himself as one of the top 2025 prospects in central Ohio and college coaches have taken notice by inviting him to campus for game day visits.

“This fall I have been to Kentucky, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Ohio,” said Bowman of his visit plans. “Notre Dame invited me to a game so I’ll be going there Nov. 5 when they play Clemson and I might be going back to Ohio State when they play Michigan so that should be a lot of fun.”

My recruitment has been going very well, I didn’t know what to expect coming into this process. One very cool moment was when I had a good toe-tap catch on the sideline vs New Albany and I heard someone say “that was a great catch” and I looked over and it was Coach Hartline,” said Bowman. “So that was pretty cool.

Bowman currently holds two offers from Kentucky and Miami (Ohio) where his father, Geoffrey Bowman, played from 1996-99.

Glad to see the Redskins, er Red Hawks, of Miami (O) go after legacies. As an undergrad (1971), would like to see us/them get stronger. Used to be, the Miami first team was a skoosh (or three) worse than tOSU, but tOSU 2's were miles better. However, during my time there, went to more tOSU games than Miami's (only two) during my four years there. Still bleed scarlet and gray, always have, but solidified it with my OSU MBA (1976). Not certain why I posted this, but there it is. Also have degree from San Jose State (MA Ed Ad), but don't even look at their scores.....Go Bucks!

Buckeyes to have multiple tight ends on hand for this weekend’s game
Targeted players at the tight end position in town this weekend.

One of the positions that probably doesn’t see the recognition all of the time is the tight end spot. Not always the most glamorous position on the offensive side of the ball, it’s still critical to the success of Ohio State’s offense. Ryan Day has been clear over the years that the tight end is needed for both the run game and the pass game as well. Regardless of formation, the position continues to play a major role in the scheme, and bringing in more elite players at the spot needs to continue.

Looking ahead, with only one tight end committed in the 2023 class, the 2024 cycle has the ability to take two, but there’s plenty of time to sort that out. It’s never too early for the coaching staff to start building relationships with some of the better players at the spot, and this weekend will be a step in the right direction when a 2025 tight end makes his way to Columbus to take in the sights of this weekend’s game.

Making the trip from Georgia, Ethan Barbour will be at Ohio State Saturday and looking closely at Kevin Wilson and the tight end group’s play. A 6-foot-3, 215 pound athlete, Barbour is currently the No. 69 player per the 247Sports rankings and specifically checks in as the third best tight-end in the class and seventh best player in Georgia for 2025. At nearly 15 offers to his name already as only a high school sophomore, it’s easy to see why he’s early on one of the better tight-ends in the country.....

  • Four-star 2025 wide receiver Andrew Marsh: “The visit was good, but cold. I was not expecting that. I initially have been talking to Coach Cass but at the game I was able to talk to Coach Day and Coach Hartline. During the conversation, both asked if I could see myself playing there and if I could stand playing in the cold. All of the recruiting team was nice. Sunday, I had a more in-depth time there. I was able to see the football facility and meet with different departments. The place is huge. I see that everything is up-tempo. Talking to coach, I learned about the style of play for their receivers and their expectations of all players. This visit made a lasting impression on me and I will be back.”

  • Kentucky 2025 defensive end Austin Alexander: “It was so much fun to experience a game in Columbus. As soon as you got into the recruiting lounge, you just knew they were about business. Everything was done very well. Seeing the stadium from on the field with all the people was an incredible sight. It was such a nice stadium. And watching the players get fired up in the 25-degree snow made you know what they were about. And it was a pleasure to be able to see Coach Johnson again. It was a very good time.”

THE HURRY-UP: ETHAN BARBOUR SAID OHIO STATE'S LEVEL OF DETAIL WAS "INCREDIBLE" ON HIS VISIT TO COLUMBUS

“My visit was great,” Barbour told Eleven Warriors. One of my key takeaways was just how thorough they were. They literally discussed everything from what it means to be a Buckeye, how they help you manage your academic schedule, nutrition, and they even discussed how they prepare you for life on and off the field. The level of detail was incredible.”

Barbour picked an excellent game to visit Ohio State as far as his position is concerned, as Cade Stover caught two touchdown passes on the afternoon. The Georiga prospect said he was impressed by how the Buckeyes used their tight ends.

“I spent a lot of time in the tight end room while (Kevin) Wilson went over film,” Barbour said. “Based on what I saw and what I heard, the tight is a critical part of their offense. I think that is only going to grow.”

We've surprisingly recruited TE very well prior to Stover's breakout season, but the year Stover is having is going to pay dividends for the next couple recruiting cycles at TE. Hopefully we can keep it up, having a TE involved like Stover has been is fun to watch and makes the offense that more dangerous. I think Royer, Hart and Christian all look promising, but if we hang onto Thurman in '23 that dude is going to be a monster imo.

In any event, seems like Barbour is a top TE target in '25 for us, lets swoop back down into GA for another top TE.
