2024 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

College football recruiting: Top 30 prospects in the 2024 class

The 2024 recruiting rankings received a major shakeup this week with the release of the updated Top247. The rankings update featured the initial batch of five-star prospects as 12 players earned a five-star designation with a 98 rating.

Following the latest update to the rankings, we have decided to take a look at the top 30 prospects in the 2024 class and where things stand in their recruitments. Just six of those players have already announced their respective commitments, while the remaining 24 are still undecided on where they will play in college.

Four college football programs already hold at least one commitment from a top-30 prospect in the 2024 class. Alabama leads the way with three commits among that group, while Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee each have one.

1) Dylan Raiola | QB | Chandler (Ariz.)

247Sports rank: 5-star | 98 rating | No. 1 Overall | No. 1 QB
Recruitment status: Committed to Ohio State
Measurables: 6-3 | 220
Scouting report: Looks the part already from a physical standpoint. Two-sport athlete who also plays baseball and has a nice athletic profile. Well-proportioned build and frame. Sturdy lower body that generates power and velocity on throws. Displays encouraging athleticism that should continue to improve as he develops throughout his career. Good stature in the pocket with a smooth easy release. Raiola has above average mobility and is able to buy time while locating his receivers and going through progressions smoothly. Flashes plus arm strength to make the throws from a variety of arm angles with velocity or touch as required. Puts zip on passes even when on the move out of the pocket. Willing to stand in the pocket and deliver passes while under pressure. Keeps eyes downfield as the pocket closes. Doesn’t get caught looking at the rush. Features good touch on his deep passes enabling receivers to run underneath to make the catch. Displays good pocket presence and awareness. Capable of tucking the ball to run if needed to gain chunk yardage. A young player who has very few holes in his game even with two more years of high school left. Ahead of the curve mechanically and possesses the arm strength that puts him in elite company. The more he plays and has reps his decision making and feel will only get faster and become second nature. Should become a Power Five starter for multiple years and a potential all-conference selection with NFL Draft early-round upside. – 247Sports National Recruiting Expert Chris Singletary

RISING FOUR-STAR OHIO OFFENSIVE LINEMAN WILLIAM SATTERWHITE SAYS RECEIVING AN OHIO STATE OFFER WOULD “PROBABLY BE THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO ME”

One of the fastest-rising in-state offensive linemen in the 2024 class is starting to appear on Ohio State’s radar.

Four-star Akron prospect William Satterwhite has seen his recruitment explode over the past month, as the 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect has picked up offers from Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Duke, Minnesota, Penn State and Miami (OH) over the last 31 days and holds 11 Division I offers overall.

Satterwhite was one of the in-state prospects Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye made it a priority to visit on the recruiting trail, as he stopped by Archbishop Hoban on Dec. 5 to check in on the Akron standout.

“He was trying to touch base and start the relationship-building process,” Satterwhite told Eleven Warriors of Frye’s visit. “Then we talked about me trying to come to OSU for a junior day in either late spring or January.”

Satterwhite has only recently reappeared on Ohio State’s radar, as last week was one of the first times the offensive lineman prospect had spoken to Frye. He also connected with the program's offensive line coach after completing a workout at a recruiting camp in Columbus in June.

Just info I found perusing
This is a copy paste from an 11w user that I very much trust to be accurate.

1- Tate and Inniss sort of thought this could be happening a few days ago. Raiola cut them off after texting them non stop for months. The SFE people are having their tryout today. I will be down there in January for one if their tournaments.

2- This won’t hurt things with Tate or Inniss at all. Also won’t impact JJ Smith. Or JoJo Trader if they can get him. But Trader won’t be impacted by Raiola.

3- Hartline and Day are the keys with the SFE wideouts not the QB. They know the system will bring in QBs.

4- The SFE guys were told that Matt Rhule basically told the Raiolas they get what they want if they come to Nebraska. Their own OC. Their own QB coach. Unlimited NIL opportunities. NFL development from Rhule and the staff.

5- The SFE folks always felt the Raiola group was not trustworthy. From the top on down.

6- This sucks. No way to spin it otherwise. The kid should be a star. But better today than a few weeks before Signing Day of 2024. QBs will still want to play for OSU and Day so you move on and get the best you can get.
Day will find another QB, and OSU will be fine

2024 5-star WR Joshisa Trader talks top five schools

“Ohio State, Florida, Tennessee, Florida State and Miami are my top schools,” Trader told On3. “I have visited all except for Tennessee and I have really good relationships with coaches at each school.

“Relationships are very important to me and from the head coach to the offensive coordinator to the receiver coach, I have some strong relationships with these schools. I am talking to them every day and I like that, the offense and the receiver groups at all five schools.”

With the out-of-state schools, he has connections to Ohio State. His teammate and close friend, Jeremiah Smith is committed to the Buckeyes. He also played with Brandon Inniss and Carnell Tate, two Ohio State signees this cycle, on the South Florida Express 7-on-7 team.

“I have been liking Ohio State for a long time,” Trader said. “Jeremiah is committed and I know guys going there, but it is really about the wide receiver production. Coach Hartline is a great coach, I love how he coaches and we have a great relationship.”

Trader is planning to take his time with the recruiting process. He is looking to take some unofficial visits early in 2023, decide on official visits and then take his recruitment into his senior year.

Echo what @MaxBuck said, but also OH has 2 top ranked CBs(like both in the top 10 nationally), 2 really good DEs, and a stud S with a family member already on the roster.

This feels like a throwback year - heavy defensive talent year, offensive side is primarily OL/TE. A couple physical RB's mixed in.

There's a couple of dark horses out there that I'm excited to see how they develop in the summer circuit and their senior season. Zae Jennings out of Colerain has intriguing size, what hurts him is he projects as a DB to me and there's some more polished guys ahead of him, feels like a potential UK/Cinci type of kid. Ryan Powell is a RB out of Warren G Harding, listed at 6'1/215, has some P5 offers already. Last one that is pretty off the radar right now is Elijah King, DE/OLB...listed around 6'5/230, moves well laterally, has good instincts and can get skinny when rushing. Has some good edge to him, has some spurts where his get off is elite. He's going to end up getting P5 offers and I think his development on the technical side during the circuit will be huge because he really has no idea yet what he's doing on that front. Gahanna has some big boys on that line though and they play an incredibly difficult schedule, so he's not going to be as much of an unknown as a guy like Powell will be.

This will be a year that the leftovers that OSU can't get, schools like Uc, Louisville, UK, etc will get some talented players!
Nichols from Withrow in Cincinnati at CB will be the type of player who's a 4star who may end up at one of those players and star.
