2022 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Get ready for the "Sawyer Soiree" on Opening Day weekend in October. What has long been rumored has apparently
now become official acc. to Rivals. Approx. 15 commits are supposed to be there and several high profile potentials
will hopefully attend. I'm unclear on the rules of what will be allowed inre game and campus visits but even TLeigh is a good possibility
to come!

1) The Buckeyes are in contact with a number of 2022 quarterbacks. But other than Maalik Murphy, the others they have offered have either committed elsewhere or are no longer being actively recruited by Ohio State.

The Buckeyes have a shot at landing Murphy, but they are also in contact with other 2022 quarterbacks including Drew Allar from Medina (Ohio). The 6-foot-5 and 210-pound Allar threw for 1,802 yards and 23 touchdowns and rushed for 294 yards during his sophomore season.

“I hear from coach (Ed) Terwilliger,” Allar said. “I really like him a lot. He’s a good guy.”

Allar has also met Ohio State quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis once in person.

Allar has five scholarship offers so far, Pitt, Toledo, Akron, Bowling Green and Central Michigan.

“I’m interested in Ohio State,” Allar said. “I’ve been talking to Pitt the most out of my offers. But right now I’m just focused on the rest of the season.”

Allar is a 3-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings. He is the country’s No. 17 pro-style quarterback and the No. 15 prospect in Ohio.

Medina takes on Solon (Ohio) on Friday, then will take part in the Ohio state playoffs.

Positive updates from Wiltfong on Zach Rice and the injured WR Caleb Burton... Burton will be releasing his top 12 soon but Buckeyes are expected to be on it. He says he "talks to Hartline every night..he's funny". Rice also talks to the Buckeyes and watches film online with Stud and the linemen. He said when he was offered and he told his mom that "her knees buckled".

Defensive tackle CJ Doggette who is on the Buckeyes’ radar screen helped Pickerington (Ohio) Central roll to a 43-3 win over previously undefeated Groveport (Ohio) Madison on Friday night. Both teams entered the game with 3-0 records. But it was Central that rolled to 4-0 with a convincing win.

After a muffed Central punt attempt Groveport put together a short drive that ended with a field goal and a 3-0 lead. But it was all Central from there and the Tigers’ defense was outstanding.

The 6-foot-2 and 285-pound Doggette played defensive tackle as Central bottled up a Groveport offense that relied heavily on running the ball. Because Groveport very rarely passed the ball, Doggette and his defensive line teammates were vital in winning the game.

Also check out our video interview with Doggette after the game.

Doggette, who is on the Buckeyes’ radar screen, has a list of early scholarship offers that includes Michigan State, Kentucky, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Rutgers and Pitt so far.

Just sayin': Good 3 Star DT, so far Ohio State hasn't offered. So far his best offers are coming from "lower tier" Power 5 teams.
