2022 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Bucks are reportedly watching Darrius Clemons...the WR who was from Oregon but now is in Utah...play tonight. Guy has turned in a 4.37 forty and yes they're saying it's been verified. ( Huffman). If they like what they see tonight I would expect the offer to be issued. Stats in game #1 were 3 catches for 159 yards with tds of 63 and 77 yds.

WR Darrius Clemons is good friends with C.J.Hicks since they met at last year's Penn St. game. Hicks has been recruiting him and Coach Day called him on 9/1 the first day coaches could initiate contact. Last week Hartline called and talked to him for about 45 min. He has 26 offers but still waiting on the Buckeyes to offer but the interest is there on both sides. Info comes from Kurelic.

Defensive tackle CJ Doggette who is on the Buckeyes’ radar screen helped Pickerington (Ohio) Central roll to a 43-3 win over previously undefeated Groveport (Ohio) Madison on Friday night. Both teams entered the game with 3-0 records. But it was Central that rolled to 4-0 with a convincing win.

After a muffed Central punt attempt Groveport put together a short drive that ended with a field goal and a 3-0 lead. But it was all Central from there and the Tigers’ defense was outstanding.

The 6-foot-2 and 285-pound Doggette played defensive tackle as Central bottled up a Groveport offense that relied heavily on running the ball. Because Groveport very rarely passed the ball, Doggette and his defensive line teammates were vital in winning the game.

Also check out our video interview with Doggette after the game.

Doggette, who is on the Buckeyes’ radar screen, has a list of early scholarship offers that includes Michigan State, Kentucky, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Rutgers and Pitt so far.

We have #1, #3, and #4; probably kind of fortunate that #1, and #3 are Ohio guys.

A quick look at the current Buckeyes roster shows Trey Sermon as the only running back that was absolutely going to be departing following this season — and heck, now even he doesn’t have to, though he probably will anyway. Even if — when — Sermon heads off to the NFL, the Ohio State running back room will still consist of Master Teague, Marcus Crowley, Steele Chambers, Miyan Williams, TreVeyon Henderson and Evan Pryor in 2021. If we assume, which is always dangerous, that there’s some form of attrition from that group heading into 2022, there will still be three to four really talented tailbacks on the roster when the class of 2022 arrives.

The good news? Studrawa already has a good one in the fold for 2022 in Cincinnati tackle Tegra Tshabola, and a plentiful supply of local linemen should make things a bit more manageable for the next cycle.

PROSPECT HOMETOWN POS. MEASURABLES RANK RATING
Aamil Wagner Dayton OT 6-foot-6, 240 pounds No. 120 ★★★★
Blake Miller Strongsville OT 6-foot-6, 315 pounds No. 212 ★★★★
Demon Moore Fort Wayne OG 6-foot-4, 295 pounds No. 274 ★★★★
Kiyaunta Goodwin Charlestown, Ind. OT 6-foot-7, 300 pounds No. 280 ★★★★

Sorry, not buying the spin on Studrawa here. Too many swing and misses of high end talent and too many projects to fill the roster spots for a position as crucial as OL.

It's OSU. Assistants should be expected to go into any high school in America and compete for a top 100 kid. All position coaches, not just some.

The regional approach of hoping a bunch of local projects work out was the biggest shortcoming of the Tressel era along both LOS and won't cut it in the current arms race with Bama and Clemson.

It's harsh, but for both recruiting and coaching consistency, I'd be happy with a new OL coach next year.
