2020 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

My guess is that Ohio State is getting negative recruited like crazy over the fact that the Buckeyes have commitments from four top-100 WRs. What running back wants to come play in an "air raid" offense?
Which is hilarious considering Haskins threw for nearly 5k yards last season and the Buckeyes still managed to produce:

Dobbins: 230 carries for 1053 yards 10 TDs

Weber: 172 carries for 954 yards 5 TDs

And sure. Now that it’s 100% Ryan Day’s offense, it’s probably easy to manipulate and cherry pick statistics when recruiting these players. But an offense in today’s game doesn’t find much success without some sort of balance. Any negatively recruiting HC that thinks we’re going to see 6k passing yards is fooling themselves.

If I were negatively recruiting OSU, it'd involve the step back in the rushing game last season, but overwhelmingly more, would be the NFL coming to beat down Ryan Day's door if he develops Justin Fields the same way he developed Haskins.

Lincoln Riley is going through a similar battle at OU, especially with Jerry not re-upping Jason Garrett. It's just kind of the recruiting world we live in now.....when guys like Kliff Kingsbury get Head Coaching jobs because they once breathed on Patrick Mahommes.

11 Warriors just posted a list showing that OSU has 17 players on their current roster who were rated in the top 50 as recruits.

https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio...football-roster-since-the-turn-of-the-century

What I find fascinating is that only 4 of them have yet to be starters. Eleven are underclassmen.

I also see that of the top 14 all time recruits according to Scout (all time being since 2002 when Scout started tracking) 5 are on the current roster. That is more than a third of the top 14 recruits from the past 17 years. And two more of those top 14 come in next year. And this does not include Fields.

Three more top 50 and a total of 9 top 100 are coming in next year.

And of the 4 recruits so far for 2021 two are top 50, one is rated #51 and they are all in the top 110.

And STILL a part of me wants to fire Day for not landing Robinson!

I'm looking at the top 7 in the recruiting rankings and there's a lot that will happen over the next few years, imo.

Clemson - Dabo will bail as soon as the Bama job opens. Probably within the next 3-4 years.
Bama - Saban will be 68 in a couple months. I don’t see him coaching much longer. However, Dabo takes over and they stay on top. On the bright side, Clemson becomes Clemson again.
LSU - Orgeron will either go 9-4 this year and get canned, or get will get caught cheating. Maybe both.
Ohio State - Day is the most stable, imo. Just unproven. Although he’s checking a lot of boxes this offseason. As long as he doesn’t have the desire to coach in the NFL, we should be good for years to come.
Georgia - They have stability with Kirby, but he has proven to make some very questionable decisions in games. Games they should have won, his decisions cost them. So if he gets that fixed, they’ll be a threat long term.
Norte Dame - Brian Kelly. Enough said
TTUN - If Jimmy doesn’t beat Ohio State this year, he gone!
