I don't know where we will end up with this class, but the way things are trending one would be hard pressed to find a first year coach who has EVER put together a class like this.

We are looking at a rookie head coach who could land 12 or 13 top 100 players.

JT had 4 his first year and 6 in the vaunted 2002 class - and he was an experienced HC.

Urban had 5 his first year here and 10 in 2013 - and he was a HOF coach coming in.

I am not just talking OSU - I can't imagine any program with a coach who has never been a full time HC performing as Day is doing.

Tribute to Ryan, tribute to the program and tribute to the seamless transition that brought him on board.

once the class is finalized would be interesting to see Day’s first full class compared to Lincoln Riley’s

Two things that might be so obvious it’s stupid to point out, but:

It feels like Ohio State has a ton of momentum right now to not only lock up basically the rest of the class in the next month, but also with some of the final guys they will be throwing all of their focus on in the final months like Elias Ricks.

It feels like a lot of the OSU commits and targets should be getting ratings bumps following the opening based on the reports coming out.

So as it stands right now, Ohio State has two 5 star commits. It’s very likely that Gee Scott gets bumped to a 5 star. Also looking likely that 5 star RB, Bijan Robinson will be a in the class. That’s four very likely 5 star players in year one for Ryan Day...

IF, Elias Ricks flips, he will be the fifth 5 star in the class. And from the reports I’m reading from the Opening and the film I’ve seen, Mookie Cooper, another likely Buckeye, could end up a 5 star before it’s all said and done. Same with Lathan Ransom. Doubt they get the bump, but could.

Soooo yeah, Ryan Day can recruit a lil bit.

You really have to appreciate what Ryan has done so far. He realizes he can't do it by himself and he surrounded himself with home runs on every level.

Brian Hartline, Jeff hafley, Al Washington, Coach Johnson, and even Greg Mattison are really good recruiters who relate to kids really well. What's even more exciting is they are known to be experts at what they do.

Seriously how many times have we heard about hafley being a genius at what he does? We know what kids are saying about Brian Hartline as well. It's also established that Coach Johnson is the best defensive line coach in America without question.

I was really excited for his hires back in January / February and I am even more excited now. They are really good at what they do all the way around.
