2020 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

That the RB recruiting hasn't exactly been lights out.

I realize how greedy I am with that stance though lol... you don't always get the 5 stars I know.
Neither have several other positional groups prior to hitting the refresh button with some of these assistants. I’m more than confident Alford will get his guys. He’s one of the best in the college game for a reason. I think we all miss Drayton a bit, but Alford was about as good of a replacement that you could’ve asked for.

Oddly enough, a lot of Texas fans are calling for Drayton’s head if they miss on Bijan. They say their RB recruiting hasn’t been good.

I'm more interested in the fact that Ohio State could potentially have a class with 5 elite WRs.
Combine that with our current QB commits and I think it's pretty obvious where Day envisions Ohio State's offense in the near future. And it 'aint the spread offense.

Everyone has been waiting for USC to make their way back on the scene. It just might be coming in the form of Ohio State. Day's recruiting style is eerily similar thus far ... and he's doing an amazing job.

Granted, the class needs to close with some elite defensive talent. Still, offensively this might end up being the best class in program history. And it screams pro-style west coast offense.

I'd pump the brakes on such as comparison for a while, at least until we have four straight recruiting classes with six 5* recruits in each class like Pete Carroll did back in 2004-2007. That's 24 5* recruits in a four-class span...even Saban at Bama hasn't come close to that.

I'm not talking solely based on star rating. For instance, Ohio State has the nations top rated center committed, yet he's a 4*. Does that make it any less impressive? I'd say no ... because Ohio State is still taking the "BEST" player at his position in the country.

5* or 4* ... it's an elite player in my book. If you're landing the highest rated player at a specific position, it's a win.

The comparison to USC is based on the style of offense Day seems to be recruiting towards ... not how many 5* recruits he can get to commit.

Dobbins
Weber
Zeke
Samuel
Los
Boom
Saine
Beanie
Pittman
Clarett

Yeah... not exactly lights out. And, that's just off the top of my head, there were plenty of other RBs on the roster... and .. some of them were even highly rated themselves, even if they didn't pan out (Brionte Dunn, for example)
You can add Rod Smith to that list...
