tOSU Recruiting Discussion

didn't realize that the early enrollees got to travel. glad they get to go see the "Big Show", and all the bowl prep (do they get to suit up/practice with the team?), although nobody will get to walk Bourbon Street and munch on gumbo and other tasty treats. Good for them. Will be helpful for them to sit in on their group discussions. I know that I'd be bewildered a might, but these young people have been working for this day since they were in peewees. Go Bucks!

The path to contending for the National Championship undoubtedly starts with hiring the right coach(es); but right behind that is "elite recruiting".

I think it’s flipped. Elite recruiting alone beats 90% of teams on the schedule. When you run up against a team with equivalent talent, that’s when coordinators come into play.

Oregon State

I didn't notice that. They finished this year at #108, 131.45, and just ten 3 star recruits. They did get 4 transfers though.

Smith’s early success led the OSU administration to extend his contract through 2025 season.

Oregon State coach Jonathan Smith’s revised contract increased to $2.4 million in 2020, $2.9 million in 2025

Oregon State football coach Jonathan Smith will earn at least $2.4 million for the 2020 season, an increase of $500,000 from his previous contract.

The new contract, signed on Jan. 2 by Smith and athletic director Scott Barnes, calls for OSU’s third-year coach to make a base salary and non-salary compensation increases of $100,000 each year through 2025 season, when he’ll make $2.9 million.

And the coach is under contract through 2025 too.
