2018 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

With Gaoteote shutting things down the focus will turn to Tuliaupupu.

I'd like to buy a vowel, Pat.
So let’s say we sign everyone who is committed minus Jones and Woodbey. Between now and Feb are there backup targets they hopefully didn’t sign that they go after. I wonder what % of committed recruits sign in the next couple of days.

Is there a realistic chance we’re done at the end of the week?

It would help if people would set aside Oweh, Gaoteote. They were never safe bets.

Johnson was not expected. I'd rather have Woodbey (and they may still get him), but that's not a bad outcome. It's just not quite as epic.

Tyreke was probably going to PSU for a long time now. That's a steal. Again, is Cox better right now? Yes, but we're talking about signing a 4 & 1/2* guy instead of a 5.

Matthew Baldwin instead of Emory Jones hurts. He's actually a rare 3* in that he's only scratching the surface, but that's a big change.

The main thing is they may end up with a lot more openings than they expected and have room to chase the sudden surprise non-signees in January.

Yeah, there aren't many Terwilligers. This one helps with recruits.

Pretty much an even trade. Johnson has the benefit of being a possible corner, whereas Woodbey is strictly a safety.

Tyreke [Smith] was probably going to PSU for a long time now. That's a steal. Again, is Cox better right now? Yes, but we're talking about signing a 4 & 1/2* guy instead of a 5.
Except that the DE class should've been Cox and Smith, and now it's Smith and Alex Williams. That's a pretty big downgrade, at least on paper.

QB is the one position where you can sign a kid fully expecting him not to be a contributor for three years. Jones is clearly the better prospect now, but in 2020, Baldwin might actually be the better player.
