Bama has it defined for a variety of reasons, but according to scout, the top class belonged to:

'16 - ALA (#2 OSU)
'15 - USC (#2 ALA, OSU #8)
'14 - ALA (#5 OSU)
'13 - OSU (#4 ALA)
'12 - TEX (#2 ALA, #3 OSU... a late transformation from 3 star heaven)
'11 - FSU (#6 OSU, #7 ALA)

OSU will almost certainly finish first this year and could sign the best class ever if a few chips fall their way (Akers, Wilson/Tufele).

bucknut11 may be referring to Rivals rankings, in which Alabama has had the #1 class every year since 2011, with the exception of 2015 when the had the #2 class (USC was #1).

I assume he was referring to the 247 composite which Alabama has "won" for the past 6 years. OSU was 7, 5, 2, 3, 7, and 4 over that period in that assessment.

Agreed 100%, the 247 Composite is usually dead on in most regards.

But on the subject of Akers, the more I see of our offense and how good our OL develops every year, the more I want him. He could absolutely terrorize it here and be "the guy" in crunch time much like Zeke was. Kudos to the collective of our offensive skill guys for making plays against Wisconsin but I could not help but think that I want "that guy" in the crucial moments. Akers can be that guy here.

^ This. There's no doubt OSU staff is killing it this year. There's no doubt they're choosing, rather than recruiting. But Bama has set the bar so high, OSU has a long way to go to get to the point where it is defining any standards.
